Cv Flow Coefficients of a Ball Valve
The flow coefficient or Cv flow Value is the number of US gallons of water the valve will pass through a valve with a pressure differential of 1 psi through the valve at 60F. i.e. 10 psi inlet with 9 psi at the outlet. However, the higher the pressure difference the higher the flow and visa versa.
Kv is the metric value of Cv and is calculated as Kv = Cv x 0.865.
Cv varies with both type and size of valve, but provides an reference for comparing liquid flow capabilities for different ball valves.
