Description
3/8" & 1/2" Y-Pattern Solenoid Valve – YA / YS Series
The YA / YS Series is a compact 2/2 way normally closed Y-pattern brass solenoid valve designed for high-flow control of air, water, light oil, compatible gases and steam.
The pressure-assisted design uses a 12mm orifice in both 3/8" and 1/2" versions and operates from a minimum differential pressure of 0.3 Bar. Depending on the selected coil and seal configuration, operating pressures are available up to 20 Bar and media temperatures up to +185°C.
The range is divided into YA models for general fluid service and YS models with PTFE sealing for steam and high-temperature applications.

Construction & Materials
Body: Brass
Internals: Stainless Steel
Standard Seals: NBR
Optional Seals:
✓ EPDM
✓ FKM / Viton
✓ PTFE
Coil Encapsulation: Thermoset Resin
The stainless steel tube and internal parts are isolated within the robust brass Y-pattern valve body.
Seal & Temperature Selection
The seal material determines both media compatibility and maximum temperature.
NBR
Maximum Media Temperature: +95°C
Suitable for air, water, light oils and other compatible media.
EPDM
Up to +145°C with the higher-power Coil 5 configuration.
Useful for compatible hot-water and higher-temperature water-based applications.
FKM / Viton
Up to +145°C with Coil 5.
Suitable for many compatible oils, fuels and industrial fluids.
PTFE
Up to +185°C with the standard non-ATEX configuration.
Designed particularly for steam and high-temperature fluid service.
The exact temperature limit depends upon the selected coil and seal combination.
YS Steam Solenoid Valve
The YS10 and YS15 versions are specifically configured for steam and high-temperature applications.
Models:
YS10 – 3/8" BSP
YS15 – 1/2" BSP
Orifice: 12mm
Seal: PTFE
Maximum Temperature: +185°C
Maximum pressure with the 18.5W Coil 5 is:
AC: 10 Bar
DC: 7 Bar
This makes the YS version particularly useful where a compact, high-flow brass steam solenoid valve is required.
PTFE Gas Leakage
PTFE sealing should be selected carefully where gas tightness is important.
The manufacturer's Sunwell specification states that the PTFE seal can permit leakage of approximately 400 cc/min.
For gas applications requiring very low leakage, an appropriate elastomeric YA configuration would therefore generally be preferable, subject to compatibility with the actual gas and operating conditions.
Media Compatibility
Suitable media according to the selected seal, coil and operating conditions include:
✓ Air
✓ Water
✓ Light Oil
✓ Steam – YS Version
✓ Compatible Gases
✓ Compatible Process Fluids
Maximum Viscosity: 50 cSt
Compatibility should be confirmed against the brass body, stainless steel internals and selected sealing material. The manufacturer's general media specification lists air, water, gas, light oil and steam.
Coil 22003 – System 13/30
The compact Nass Magnet System 13/30 operator provides a 15W DC coil.
Coil: 22003
Width: 30mm
DC Power: 15 Watts
AC Power: 19.5VA
Insulation: Class H 180°C
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Connection: DIN43650A
Protection: IP65 with Connector
This is suitable for applications where the maximum pressure capability of the larger Coil 5 is not required.
Coil 22005 – System 13/36
For higher operating pressures, the larger System 13/36 operator is available.
Coil: 22005
Width: 36mm
DC Power: 18.5 Watts
AC Power: 23VA
Insulation: Class H 180°C
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Connection: DIN43650A
Protection: IP65 with Connector
This increases the YA pressure capability to 20 Bar AC / 12 Bar DC and the YS steam version to 10 Bar AC / 7 Bar DC.
Voltage Options
Available voltages depend upon the selected coil.
DC:
✓ 12V DC
✓ 24V DC
✓ 48V DC
AC:
✓ 24V AC
✓ 48V AC
✓ 110V AC
✓ 230V AC
Additional AC voltage configurations are available with Coil 4.
ATEX / IECEx Solenoid Option
For hazardous-area applications, the valve can be configured with the Nass Magnet System 8/22 explosion-protected solenoid operator.
Ex mb IIC T4 Gb
Ex mb tb IIIC T130°C Db
Zone 1 Gas / Zone 21 Dust
ATEX Category 2G / 2D
IP65
Maximum Media Temperature: +80°C
ATEX Certificate: PTB 03 ATEX 2018 X
IECEx Certificate: IECEx PTB 07.0004X
The valve pressure capability is reduced when the ATEX operator is selected; the YA/YS data gives a maximum 5 Bar for the ATEX configuration. The original YA/YS sheet also identifies the explosion-protected option as Coil 3E / 22003EX.

Why Choose the YA / YS Series?
The YA / YS Series combines a compact Y-pattern brass body with a large 12mm flow path, providing considerably higher flow than many conventional 3/8" and 1/2" solenoid valves.
The YA configuration provides flexible NBR, EPDM or FKM sealing for general fluid applications, while the dedicated YS PTFE version extends operation to steam and temperatures up to +185°C.
With pressure capability up to 20 Bar, two coil power options, IP65 DIN connection and an optional explosion-protected solenoid operator, the range can be configured around both general industrial and specialist high-temperature applications.
Available Versions
YA10 – 3/8" General Fluid
YA15 – 1/2" General Fluid
YS10 – 3/8" Steam / PTFE
YS15 – 1/2" Steam / PTFE
All versions use a 12mm orifice, with coil and seal selection determining the final pressure and temperature capability.
