2/2 Way, 3/2 Way, 5/2 Way, 5/3 Way & Latching Bistable Valves

Solenoid Valve selection according to function.

Failsafe Closed requires power to Open - Failsafe Open requires power to Close.

3/2 way = 3 ports for diverting flow.

5/2 way single coil - Example: Power to coil Cylinder fully extends - power off cylinder fully retracts (or visa versa)

5/2 way double coil - Example: Power to coil 1 Cylinder fully extends, power to coil 2 cylinder fully retracts, power off cylinder stays put.

5/3 way double coil - Example: Power to coil 1 Cylinder extends, power to coil 2 cylinder retracts, power off cylinder stays put even in mid position.

Latching - power pulse to open & stays open, reverse polarity power pulse to close and stays closed.

2/2 Way Failsafe Closed - Power to Open

2/2 way (2 ports 2 positions) normally closed (failsafe closed). Energise or activate the valve it will then open to allow flow, without activation valve will either stay closed or automatically return to closed position thus preventing flow.

2/2 way fail-safe closed - View zero rated solenoid valves here. Operate from zero pressure up their their maximum working pressure.

2/2 way failsafe closed - View pilot pressure or servo assisted solenoid valves here. require minimum pressure difference typically 7psi or 0.5 Bar.

2/2 Way Failsafe Open - Power to Close

2/2 way (2 ports 2 positions) normally open (failsafe open). Energise or activate the valve it will then close preventing flow, without activation valve will either stay open or automatically return to open position thus allowing flow.

2/2 way fail-safe open - View zero rated solenoid valves here. Operate from zero pressure up their their maximum working pressure.

2/2 way failsafe open - View pilot pressure or servo assisted solenoid valves here. require minimum pressure difference typically 7psi or 0.5 Bar.

3/2 way 3 port 2 position for diverting flow

3/2 way solenoid valves for diverting flow.

3/2 Failsafe Closed - inlet closed outlet open to exhaust, power on inlet opens to outlet and exhaust closes.

3/2 Failsafe Open - inlet open to outlet & exhaust is closed, power on - inlet closed, outlet opens to exhaust.

3/2 Universal - flow in any direction can be used as failsafe closed, open or for diverting flow.

5/2 Way Single Acting

5 port 2 position single acting (mono stable) solenoid or pneumatic valve. Example: Actuation cylinder will fully extend, actuation off cylinder fully retracts (or visa versa).

5/2 Way Double Acting

5 port 2 position double acting (bi stable) Solenoid Valve. 5/2 way double acting - Example:  Actuate one side of valve Cylinder fully extends - Actuation off cylinder stays put, Actuate other side of valve cylinder fully retracts - actuation off cylinder stays put.

5/3 Way Double Acting

5 port 3 position double acting (Bi stable) Pneumatic or Solenoid Valve. Example: Actuate one side cylinder extends and can be stopped mid position with actuation or power off. Actuate other side cylinder will retract and can be stopped mid position if actuation / power is removed. Actuation off or Power off cylinder stays in position even mid position. An addition of speed controller into air line will slow cylinder speed.

Latching BiStable

Latching solenoid valves require a single ~20 mSecond electrical power pulse to open and the valve will stay open, to close reverse the electrical polarity (swap +ve and -ve supply) and and apply a short electrical power pulse to close and the valve will remain closed. Reverse the polarity again and repeat the sequence. Ideal for energy saving and safety.

Proportional Valve

Proportional Solenoid Valves or modulating ball valves open proportionally according to the control voltage applied (4 to 24 volts or 0 to 10 milliAmp).
