3/4" 100 Bar Normally Open Stainless Steel Solenoid Valve – ERA-SIB 220250-0 Series


The ERA-SIB 220250-0 to 220255-0 Series is a heavy-duty 3/4" 2/2 way normally open high-pressure stainless steel solenoid valve designed for industrial applications requiring reliable fail-safe open operation at pressures up to 100 Bar.

The valve uses a pressure-assisted piston design with a large 20mm orifice, providing substantially higher flow than small-orifice direct-acting high-pressure valves. With electrical power removed, the valve automatically returns to its normally open position, making it particularly suitable where the required system fail position is open.

Manufactured from AISI 316L stainless steel with stainless steel internal components, the series provides excellent corrosion resistance for demanding water, compressed air, light oil, gas and compatible process applications. NBR, EPDM, FKM / Viton® and PTFE seal configurations are available, together with optional NPT threads, manual override and ATEX explosion-protected operation.

The ERA-SIB 220250-0 Series remains open when the solenoid is de-energised. Applying electrical power closes the valve against the process flow.
If electrical power is removed or lost, the valve automatically returns to its normally open position.
This makes the series particularly useful where maintaining flow or releasing pressure following a power failure forms part of the required system design.

Pressure-Assisted Piston Design

The valve uses a pressure-assisted piston mechanism rather than direct-acting operation.
System pressure assists movement of the main 20mm valve element, allowing a much larger flow orifice to be controlled at pressures up to 100 Bar.

1 to 100 Bar
The valve therefore requires at least 1 Bar operating pressure for correct operation and is not a zero-pressure differential valve.
For applications that must operate from zero pressure, a suitable direct-acting valve should be selected instead.

Normally Open Fail-Safe Operation

A major advantage of the ERA-SIB 220250-0 Series is its normally open fail-safe configuration.
Power OFF → Valve OPEN
Power ON → Valve CLOSED
Power failure → Valve returns OPEN
This operating principle can be particularly useful for cooling circuits, circulation systems, pressure management and other applications where maintaining an open flow path following loss of electrical power is required.
The suitability of a fail-open valve should always be determined by the safety requirements of the individual system.

Installation & Mounting

Recommended installation:
Vertical with the solenoid coil uppermost
Correct mounting helps ensure reliable movement of the pressure-assisted piston mechanism.
The system must provide the required minimum 1 Bar operating pressure for correct valve operation.
Pipework should be clean before installation, and contamination should be prevented from entering the valve.

Manual Override Option

An optional manual override is available.
This can allow the valve to be mechanically operated during commissioning, testing or maintenance without relying solely upon electrical operation.

ATEX Hazardous Area Option

An optional ATEX explosion-protected solenoid operator is available for hazardous-area installations.
This provides an alternative electrical configuration for applications where explosive gas or dust atmospheres may be present.
The exact ATEX / Ex specification should be selected according to the required hazardous-area classification, ambient temperature, process media and operating conditions.

High-Flow 100 Bar Design

Controlling high-pressure media with a large solenoid valve orifice presents a significant challenge because the forces acting against the valve seat increase considerably as pressure and orifice diameter increase.
The ERA-SIB 220250-0 Series addresses this by using a pressure-assisted piston design.
Rather than requiring the solenoid alone to overcome the full pressure force acting across a 20mm seat, system pressure assists operation of the main valve mechanism.
