Description
High Pressure CO₂ & Inergen Fire Suppression Solenoid Valve – 350 Bar
The ERA-SIB EN55403 is a specialist 2/2 way normally closed high-pressure solenoid valve designed for CO₂, Inergen and compatible inert-gas fire suppression systems operating at pressures up to 350 Bar.
Manufactured with an AISI 316Ti stainless steel body, stainless steel internal components and a Voltalef + FKM sealing system, the EN55403 is designed for high-pressure gas cylinder discharge, automatic fire extinguishing systems and specialist industrial gas control.
The valve uses a pressure-assisted servo-operated design and therefore requires a minimum 10 Bar pressure differential to operate correctly. Its operating pressure range is 10–350 Bar.
A standard IP65 DIN coil is available in common AC and DC voltages, with an optional ATEX explosion-protected version for hazardous-area installations.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 way normally closed
Operation: Pressure assisted / servo operated
Operating pressure: 10–350 Bar
Minimum pressure differential: 10 Bar
The EN55403 is not a zero-rated or direct-acting valve. A minimum differential pressure of 10 Bar across the valve is required for correct operation.
When de-energised, the valve remains normally closed. Energising the solenoid operates the pilot system, allowing the pressure-assisted mechanism to open the main valve and release the high-pressure gas.
This operating principle allows a relatively compact solenoid operator to control high-pressure gas at pressures up to 350 Bar.
Ports & Flow
Port sizes:
✓ 1/4" BSP
✓ 3/8" BSP
Optional threads: NPT
Orifice: 7mm
Flow factor: 6 L/min
The 7mm flow path is designed for rapid high-pressure gas discharge in fire suppression and extinguishing systems.
Pressure Rating
Minimum operating differential: 10 Bar
Maximum operating pressure: 350 Bar
Working range: 10–350 Bar
The pressure-assisted design makes this valve particularly suited to high-pressure stored-gas systems where substantial inlet pressure is already available.
Construction
Body material: AISI 316Ti stainless steel
Internal components: Stainless steel
Seal materials: Voltalef + FKM
The stainless steel construction provides the mechanical strength and corrosion resistance required for specialist high-pressure gas applications.
Suitable Media
Designed primarily for:
✓ CO₂ – Carbon Dioxide
✓ Inergen
✓ Compatible inert gases
Maximum media viscosity: 40 cSt
Media compatibility should always be confirmed where gases other than those specified are being used.
Temperature Range
Media temperature: −40°C to +50°C
Ambient temperature: −20°C to +50°C
Mounting position: Vertical with coil uppermost
Switching Performance
Opening time: Maximum 200ms
Closing time: Maximum 200ms
Duty rating: 100% ED continuous duty
The fast switching response makes the EN55403 suitable for automatic fire suppression systems requiring rapid initiation of the gas discharge sequence.

✓ Industrial fire protection systems
✓ Gas suppression control systems
✓ OEM fire suppression equipment
✓ High-pressure inert gas control
✓ Hazardous-area fire protection
Important Selection Information
This valve is designed specifically for high-pressure applications where at least 10 Bar differential pressure is available.
For applications requiring operation from 0 Bar differential pressure, a direct-acting or zero-rated high-pressure solenoid valve should be selected instead.
For correct valve selection, consider:
✓ Gas type
✓ Minimum and maximum pressure
✓ Available differential pressure
✓ Required port size and flow
✓ Coil voltage
✓ Ambient and media temperature
✓ Hazardous-area requirements
Why Choose the ERA-SIB EN55403?
The ERA-SIB EN55403 combines a 350 Bar maximum working pressure, 316Ti stainless steel construction and specialist sealing materials with a pressure-assisted operating system designed for high-pressure fire suppression gases.
Its 10–350 Bar operating range, 7mm orifice and fast 200ms switching make it particularly suited to CO₂ and Inergen cylinder discharge and automatic fire extinguishing applications.
Standard IP65 and optional ATEX electrical configurations allow the same valve platform to be used across conventional industrial and hazardous-area fire suppression installations.
