Cryogenic Solenoid Valves
Cryogenic Solenoid Valves for Temperatures to -196°C
Our cryogenic solenoid valves are designed for reliable control of extremely low-temperature fluids and gases, with media temperature ratings down to -196°C and operating pressures up to 400 bar.
Available from 1/8" to 2" BSP, the range includes direct acting and pressure-assisted 2/2 way solenoid valves with normally closed and normally open configurations. Stainless steel construction and specialist sealing materials provide compatibility with demanding cryogenic and high-pressure applications.
Across the range, suitable media include air, water, gases, hydrogen, nitrogen, light oil, vacuum and other compatible fluids, according to the selected valve model., according to valve type. Pressure ratings range from vacuum and zero differential pressure applications through to specialist high-pressure systems operating at 400 bar.
Cryogenic Solenoid Valve Range
Direct Acting Cryogenic Solenoid Valves
Our compact 1/8" and 1/4" direct acting cryogenic solenoid valves operate without a minimum pressure differential, making them suitable for applications where system pressure can fall to zero.
Normally closed and normally open versions are available with pressure ratings up to 200 bar, depending upon the selected orifice. Stainless steel construction with PTFE seals and gaskets provides a media temperature range from -196°C to +100°C.
3/8"–1/2" Cryogenic Solenoid Valves to 120 Bar
For applications requiring greater flow capacity, the stainless steel DN12 pressure-assisted cryogenic valve is available with 3/8" or 1/2" BSP connections.
It provides a Kv flow factor of 20 L/min, operates from 1 to 120 bar and has a media temperature range from -196°C to +150°C. Listed media include air, water, fuel, hydrogen and nitrogen.
High Pressure Cryogenic Solenoid Valves to 400 Bar
For the most demanding pressure applications, our 316L stainless steel CNXSPE range combines cryogenic media temperatures down to -196°C with operating pressures up to 400 bar.
Available from 3/8" to 2", the range covers DN12 to DN50 with flow factors from Kv 35 to Kv 750 L/min. Sizes through DN25 are available up to 400 bar, while the larger DN40 and DN50 valves operate up to 200 bar.
Normally closed and normally open versions are available, together with optional NPT connections, alternative seal materials and specialist ATEX coil systems. A lightweight version is also available for aerospace applications.
Choosing the Correct Cryogenic Solenoid Valve
Selecting a solenoid valve for cryogenic service requires more than matching the pipe connection. Consider the minimum and maximum operating pressure, media temperature, required flow rate, valve function, materials and available pressure differential.
Direct acting valves can operate from 0 bar differential pressure and are particularly useful for low-flow or variable-pressure applications.
Pressure-assisted valves provide substantially larger flow capacities but require a minimum pressure differential to operate. Our current cryogenic range includes pressure-assisted designs with minimum operating pressures from 1 bar or 10 bar, depending upon model.
For cryogenic applications, particular attention should also be given to media compatibility and sealing materials. The range includes PTFE, PEEK, FKM, NBR and EPDM configurations according to valve model and application.Only PTFE and PEEK are acceptable for cryo applications.
Cryogenic Valves for Nitrogen and Low Temperature Gases
Our cryogenic valve range includes models suitable for nitrogen, hydrogen and other compatible gases, with media temperature ratings down to -196°C. For liquid or specialist cryogenic media, please confirm the operating pressure, temperature and media with our technical team before ordering.
Solenoid Valves for Extremely Low Temperatures
Standard industrial solenoid valves are not necessarily designed for cryogenic media. Extremely low temperatures place particular demands on valve body materials, seals, internal components and operating clearances.
Our specialist cryogenic solenoid valve range provides media temperature ratings down to -196°C, with stainless steel construction and sealing arrangements selected according to the individual valve design.
