1/8" & 1/4" Brass Solenoid Valve – 3/2 Way Normally Closed – ERA R1 Series
The ERA R1 Series is a compact 3/2 way normally closed brass solenoid valve designed for reliable control and switching of compressed air, water, light oils, vacuum and compatible industrial fluids. Available with 1/8" or 1/4" BSP female connections, this direct acting solenoid valve operates from zero differential pressure, with maximum pressure ratings up to 25 bar depending on the selected orifice.
Featuring three ports and two switching positions, the R1 Series allows fluid flow to be redirected between a supply, outlet and exhaust connection. Its compact brass construction, stainless steel internal components and fast electromagnetic operation make it particularly suitable for pneumatic control, industrial automation, pilot circuits and OEM machinery.
The valve is supplied normally closed, with NBR seals as standard and optional FKM or EPDM sealing materials.
3/2 Way Normally Closed Operation
The ERA R1 is a three-port, two-position solenoid valve with direct acting operation.
Power OFF → Supply port 1 is closed and outlet port 2 is connected to exhaust port 3.
Power ON → Supply port 1 connects to outlet port 2 and exhaust port 3 is closed.
Power Failure → The valve returns to its normally closed switching position.
This configuration is particularly useful for operating single-acting pneumatic cylinders, venting control lines and switching pilot pressure.
Unlike pressure-assisted solenoid valves, the direct acting R1 Series does not require a minimum pressure differential and can operate from 0 bar.

The maximum operating pressure depends on the selected orifice configuration.
R11.2 – 1.0mm supply orifice / 1.2mm exhaust orifice – 0 to 25 bar
R11.7 – 1.0mm supply orifice / 1.7mm exhaust orifice – 0 to 10 bar
R12.2 – 1.0mm supply orifice / 2.2mm exhaust orifice – 0 to 7 bar
Selecting the appropriate orifice allows the valve to be matched to the required pressure and exhaust flow characteristics.
Direct Acting Solenoid Operation
The R1 Series uses an electromagnetic plunger to switch the internal flow path directly, without relying on system pressure to operate the valve.
This provides reliable switching in low-pressure and vacuum applications where pressure-assisted solenoid valves may be unsuitable.
The manufacturer's specified opening or closing time is up to approximately 20 milliseconds, making the valve suitable for responsive industrial control applications.
