Description
DN10 2/2 Way Coaxial Solenoid Valve – RSG 297
The RSG 297 is a compact DN10 2/2 way direct-acting coaxial solenoid valve designed for reliable control of compatible liquids and gases at pressures from 0 to 16 Bar.
Unlike pressure-assisted solenoid valves, the direct-acting coaxial design operates from zero differential pressure, making it suitable for low-pressure, vacuum and applications where pressure conditions can vary significantly. The valve is also backpressure-tight to 16 Bar, allowing operation in either flow direction.
The DN10 valve is available with standard 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" BSP connections, with an optional 3/4" BSP connection for installations requiring a larger threaded connection. The standard manufacturer configuration has a conventional Kv flow coefficient of 2.5 m³/h.
Valve Function & Operation
The RSG 297 is a direct-acting 2/2 way coaxial solenoid valve available in normally closed and normally open configurations.
297A10 – Normally Closed
The valve remains closed when electrically de-energised and opens when the solenoid coil is energised.
297B10 – Normally Open
The normally open version remains open when de-energised and closes when the solenoid coil is energised.
Both switching functions are manufacturer-defined options within the 297 Series.
Because the valve is direct acting, no minimum differential pressure is required for operation.
DN10 Ports & Connections
Standard DN10 connections:
✓ G1/4 BSP
✓ G3/8 BSP
✓ G1/2 BSP
Optional connections:
✓ G3/4 BSP

Pressure & Performance
Operating Pressure: 0 to 16 Bar
Reverse Pressure: Up to 16 Bar
Minimum Differential: 0 Bar
Nominal Diameter: DN10
Orifice: 10mm
Kv Flow Coefficient: 2.5 m³/h
Water Flow: Approx. 51 L/min @ 1 Bar ΔP
Flow direction:
P → A: Up to 16 Bar
A → P: Up to 16 Bar
The ability to withstand 16 Bar backpressure is particularly useful in systems where pressure may occur on either side of the valve.
Flow Capacity
The DN10 RSG 297 provides a conventional manufacturer-rated Kv flow coefficient of 2.5 m³/h.
Practical flow data for your configured valve gives approximately 51 litres/minute of water at 1 Bar pressure difference.
The straight coaxial flow path provides good flow capacity within a relatively compact DN10 valve assembly.
Direct-Acting Coaxial Design
The RSG 297 uses a direct-acting coaxial construction where the solenoid actuator and moving valve components are arranged along the valve's flow axis.
The sectional drawing shows the principal construction comprising the adapter fittings, valve seat, plunger, solenoid, return spring and elastomer seals.
This design provides several advantages:
✓ Zero Differential Operation
✓ Fast Direct Actuation
✓ Bidirectional Pressure Capability
✓ Compact Valve Construction
✓ High Cycling Capability
✓ Reliable Fluid Isolation
✓ Vacuum Configuration Available
High Viscosity Fluids
The RSG 297 is available for compatible fluids with viscosities up to 1000 cSt.
Typical applications can include:
✓ Hydraulic Oils
✓ Lubricating Oils
✓ Process Oils
✓ Viscous Process Fluids
✓ Compatible Industrial Liquids
Actual suitability depends upon viscosity, operating temperature, pressure and chemical compatibility with the valve's wetted materials.
Construction & Materials
Adapter Fitting: Aluminium
Valve Trim: Brass
Internals: Stainless Steel 316L
The manufacturer's standard construction specifies an aluminium adapter fitting with brass valve trim.
Standard Seal Construction
Standard Seal Material: FKM
Static Seal: FKM
Dynamic Seal: FKM
Seat Seal: FKM
The use of FKM throughout the standard sealing system is confirmed by the RSG technical specification.
Media Compatibility
The RSG 297 can be used with liquids and gases compatible with the materials of construction.
Typical applications include:
✓ Hydraulic Oils
✓ Lubricating Oils
✓ Process Liquids
✓ Cooling Fluids
✓ Compatible Chemicals
✓ Compatible Gases
✓ Fluids Up To 500 cSt
For aggressive chemicals, specialist gases or unusual process fluids, compatibility should be confirmed against all wetted materials before ordering.
Special Service Options
The RSG 297 can be configured for specialist process requirements in addition to standard industrial fluid applications.
Available configurations include:
✓ Vacuum Service
✓ Oxygen Service
✓ Oil & Grease-Free Construction
✓ Special Connections
✓ Manual Override
✓ Manifold Systems
✓ Special Voltages
✓ Low-Power Operation
The manufacturer also identifies special connections, mounting brackets and oil/grease-free construction within the 297 ordering system.
Vacuum Service
A dedicated vacuum version is available for applications requiring particularly low leakage rates.
Vacuum Leakage Rate: <10⁻⁶ mbar·l/s
The direct-acting design is particularly suited to vacuum applications because switching does not depend upon pressure differential across the valve.
Oxygen & Clean Service
The RSG 297 can be supplied in a specially prepared degreased configuration for oxygen service.
Oxygen applications require appropriate cleaning, handling and material compatibility, so oxygen service should always be specified when ordering rather than using a standard industrial valve.
Oil and grease-free construction is also available as a manufacturer-defined mechanical option.
Temperature
Media Temperature: -10°C to +100°C
Ambient Temperature: -10°C to +50°C
These operating temperature limits are specified for the standard FKM configuration.
