Description
1/4"–3/8" High Pressure Coaxial Solenoid Valve – RSG 266
The RSG 266 is a compact 2/2 way direct-acting coaxial solenoid valve designed for high-pressure control of compatible liquids and gases. Depending on the selected orifice, the valve provides operating pressures from 0 to 100 Bar with no minimum differential pressure required.
Available as either normally closed or normally open, the RSG 266 combines a robust galvanised steel body, PTFE/FKM sealing and a direct-acting coaxial construction suitable for demanding industrial fluid-control applications. The manufacturer specifies DN2 to DN6 configurations with forward pressure up to 100 Bar and reverse pressure up to 16 Bar.
The valve is available with 1/4" or 3/8" BSP connections, with NPT available as an option. Five nominal orifice sizes from 2mm to 6mm allow the pressure and flow capacity to be selected to suit the application.
Valve Function & Operation
The RSG 266 is a direct-acting 2/2 way coaxial solenoid valve available in two switching configurations.
266A – Normally Closed
The valve remains closed when electrically de-energised and opens when the solenoid coil is energised.
266B – Normally Open
The valve remains open when electrically de-energised and closes when the solenoid coil is energised.
Both NC and NO functions are manufacturer-defined configurations within the RSG 266 Series.
Because the valve is direct acting, no minimum differential pressure is required.
Ports & Connections
Standard process connections:
✓ G1/4 BSP
✓ G3/8 BSP
Optional:
✓ NPT Threads
✓ Special Connections
Both G1/4 and G3/8 connections are available across the DN2 to DN6 range.
Pressure & Performance
The maximum operating pressure depends upon the selected nominal orifice:
DN2 / 2mm – 0 to 100 Bar
DN3 / 3mm – 0 to 40 Bar
DN4 / 4mm – 0 to 20 Bar
DN5 / 5mm – 0 to 16 Bar
DN6 / 6mm – 0 to 10 Bar
Reverse Pressure A → P: Up to 16 Bar
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
This pressure/orifice relationship is important when selecting the RSG 266: smaller orifices provide the highest pressure capability, while larger orifices provide progressively greater flow.
Flow Capacity
Flow capacity also depends upon the selected orifice:
DN2 / 2mm – 2.5 L/min
DN3 / 3mm – 3.7 L/min
DN4 / 4mm – 6.5 L/min
DN5 / 5mm – 8.0 L/min
DN6 / 6mm – 9.5 L/min
These are the manufacturer's stated flow values for the individual RSG 266 configurations.
This allows the valve to be selected according to the required balance between maximum operating pressure and flow capacity.
Direct-Acting Coaxial Design
The RSG 266 uses a compact direct-acting coaxial construction where the actuator and moving valve components are arranged along the flow axis.
The sectional drawing identifies the main components as the solenoid core, nozzle, springs, coil, plunger, adapter fitting and electrical plug.
The design provides:
✓ Zero Differential Operation
✓ Up To 100 Bar Pressure
✓ Direct Solenoid Actuation
✓ Compact Construction
✓ Fast Switching
✓ High Cycling Capability
✓ Reverse Pressure Resistance
✓ Any Mounting Position
High Pressure Operation
The RSG 266 is particularly suited to applications requiring a compact electrically operated valve at substantially higher pressures than conventional industrial solenoid valves.
With the 2mm orifice, operating pressure extends from 0 to 100 Bar.
Increasing the orifice provides greater flow capacity but reduces maximum pressure:
2mm → 100 Bar
3mm → 40 Bar
4mm → 20 Bar
5mm → 16 Bar
6mm → 10 Bar
This provides a useful range of pressure and flow combinations within the same compact valve family.
Construction & Materials
Standard Body: Galvanised Steel
Optional Body: Nickel-Plated Steel
Static Seal: FKM
Seat Seal: PTFE
The manufacturer specifically identifies galvanised steel as material S1 and nickel-plated steel as material S2.
The steel construction provides a robust solution for high-pressure industrial applications where the process medium is compatible with the wetted materials.
Standard Seal Construction
The RSG 266 uses a combination of:
✓ PTFE Seat Seal
✓ FKM Static Sealing
PTFE provides low friction and broad resistance to many industrial fluids, while FKM provides reliable static sealing across a wide range of oils and compatible process media.
Media compatibility should always be confirmed for the actual fluid and operating conditions.
Media Compatibility
The RSG 266 can be used with liquids and gases compatible with its materials of construction.
Typical applications can include:
✓ Hydraulic Oils
✓ Lubricating Oils
✓ High-Pressure Oils
✓ Process Liquids
✓ Cooling Fluids
✓ Compatible Chemicals
✓ Compatible Gases
For aggressive chemicals, specialist gases or unusual process fluids, compatibility should be confirmed against all wetted materials before ordering.
Pressure Direction
The RSG 266 is designed for:
P → A: Up to 100 Bar according to orifice
A → P: Up to 16 Bar
This means the maximum forward pressure is determined by the selected orifice, while reverse-pressure capability is limited to 16 Bar.
Temperature
Media Temperature: -10°C to +100°C
Ambient Temperature: -10°C to +50°C
The manufacturer specifies these temperature limits for the standard RSG 266 configuration.

Why Choose the RSG 266 Series?
The RSG 266 provides a compact direct-acting coaxial solenoid valve capable of operating at pressures up to 100 Bar.
Unlike pressure-assisted solenoid valves, the RSG 266 operates from zero differential pressure. Five available orifice sizes allow the valve to be matched closely to the application's pressure and flow requirements.
The combination of a robust steel body, PTFE/FKM sealing, 1/4" or 3/8" connections and multiple electrical and feedback options makes the RSG 266 particularly useful for compact high-pressure industrial systems.
