Description
1/2" Stainless Steel Pneumatic Shuttle Valve – AASV04
The AASV04 1/2" Stainless Steel Pneumatic Shuttle Valve is a high-flow air-piloted axial valve designed for reliable ON/OFF control in pneumatic automation, air logic and industrial process systems.
Featuring a 15mm orifice and straight-through axial flow path, the AASV04 provides excellent flow performance with minimal pressure drop. Its bidirectional design makes it particularly useful where conventional angle seat or diaphragm valve arrangements may unnecessarily restrict flow.
Available in 304 stainless steel as standard with optional 316 stainless steel, the valve operates from 0 to 16 Bar and can be configured for normally closed, normally open or double acting operation.
Valve Function & Operation
The AASV04 is an air-piloted 2/2-way axial shuttle valve designed for rapid and reliable isolation of liquids and gases.
The standard configuration is normally closed, with alternative configurations available including normally open and double acting versions.
Pilot air operates the valve through a 1/8" BSP connection and NAMUR interface.
Recommended pilot pressure: 3 to 5 Bar
Maximum pilot pressure: 8 Bar
The pneumatic design makes the AASV04 particularly suitable for integration with industrial automation and pneumatic control systems.
Ports & Connections
Standard process connection:
1/2" BSP
Alternative connections are available including:
✓ BSPT
✓ NPT
✓ Flanged connections
Pilot connection: 1/8" BSP
NAMUR interfacing allows compatible pneumatic control equipment to be incorporated into the valve assembly.
Pressure & Flow Performance
Operating pressure: 0 to 16 Bar
Orifice: 15mm
Water flow: 90 L/min at 1 Bar ΔP
Media viscosity: Up to 600 cSt
The axial internal flow path is designed to minimise restriction, helping reduce pressure loss while providing high flow through a compact 1/2" valve.
Bidirectional Axial Flow Design
Unlike conventional valve designs that force the media through significant changes in direction, the AASV04 uses an axial flow arrangement.
This provides improved fluid dynamics through the valve, helping to minimise pressure drop and unnecessary loss of flow.
The valve also supports bidirectional flow, providing additional installation flexibility in industrial fluid and pneumatic systems.
Construction & Materials
Standard body: 304 Stainless Steel (CF8)
Optional body: 316 Stainless Steel (CF8M)
Internals: 304 Stainless Steel (CF8)
Standard seals: FKM / Viton
Optional seals: EPDM
The stainless steel construction provides good mechanical strength and corrosion resistance for demanding industrial environments.
Seal & Temperature Options
FKM / Viton
Temperature range: -20°C to +150°C
Suitable for many compatible oils, gases and industrial process fluids.
EPDM
Temperature range: -20°C to +130°C
Typically selected for compatible water and aqueous fluid applications.
Seal compatibility should be confirmed for the specific fluid, concentration and operating temperature.
Media Compatibility
Depending on the selected seal and materials, the AASV04 can be used with:
✓ Vacuum
✓ Compressed air
✓ Compatible gases
✓ Water
✓ Most compatible oils
✓ Compatible process fluids
Maximum media viscosity is 600 cSt.
For aggressive chemicals, fuels or specialist gases, compatibility with the selected stainless steel and elastomer materials should be confirmed before ordering.
DIN EN 12266 Class A Leakage
The valve is specified to DIN EN 12266 Class A leakage, providing tight shut-off for industrial isolation and process control applications.
This makes the AASV04 suitable where dependable valve closure and low leakage are important to system operation.
Optional Magnetic Position Feedback
An optional magnetic switch system provides open and closed valve position feedback for integration with PLCs, control panels and automated machinery.
Magnetic switch specification:
✓ Open & closed position feedback
✓ Red LED indication
✓ 10–30VAC/DC supply
✓ Maximum current 100mA
✓ 2 PVC cables
✓ IP67 protection
✓ Temperature -10°C to +70°C
This allows the control system to confirm the actual valve position rather than relying solely on the pneumatic command signal.
Typical Applications
✓ Pneumatic control systems
✓ Air logic circuits
✓ Industrial automation
✓ Compressed air systems
✓ Water control systems
✓ Process fluid control
✓ Oil and lubricant systems
✓ Vacuum applications
✓ OEM machinery
✓ Automated process equipment
Why Choose the AASV04?
The AASV04 combines the compact size of a 1/2" pneumatically operated valve with a large 15mm flow orifice and straight-through axial flow design.
Its 0–16 Bar operating range, bidirectional flow capability, stainless steel construction and optional position feedback make it a versatile alternative to conventional pneumatically actuated process valves.
The availability of 304 or 316 stainless steel bodies, FKM or EPDM seals and multiple process connections also allows the valve to be configured for a broad range of industrial applications.
