Description
Emergency Stop & Gas Knock-Off Button – IP65 EPO Switch
The KOB Series Emergency Stop / Gas Knock-Off Button provides fast manual electrical isolation for gas safety systems, boiler rooms, machinery and industrial process equipment.
Housed in a durable thermoplastic enclosure with a highly visible Ø40mm red mushroom emergency stop actuator, the switch can be used to interrupt power to gas safety shut-off valves, fire valves, machinery or associated control equipment when emergency isolation is required.
The unit incorporates 1 normally closed (NC) and 1 normally open (NO) snap-action contact, allowing the same emergency button to disconnect equipment while simultaneously providing an auxiliary signal for an alarm, controller or monitoring circuit.
Available with standard twist reset, key reset or a protective shroud, the KOB Series provides a compact IP65 emergency isolation station suitable for demanding industrial environments.
Emergency Stop Operation
Pressing the large red mushroom actuator operates both internal contacts.
The normally closed contact opens when the emergency stop is pressed, allowing it to interrupt the electrical supply to equipment such as a gas safety shut-off valve.
At the same time, the normally open contact closes, allowing an alarm, warning circuit, BMS input or other auxiliary control function to be activated where required.
The emergency stop remains mechanically operated until it is deliberately reset, helping prevent accidental restoration of the controlled circuit.
Gas Knock-Off & Boiler Room Applications
The KOB Series is particularly suited to use as a gas knock-off button or emergency gas isolation switch within boiler rooms and commercial or industrial gas installations.
It can form part of an electrical control circuit used to de-energise a suitable gas safety shut-off valve during an emergency.
The additional NO contact can simultaneously provide a signal to an alarm or control system, depending on the installation design.
The switch itself is an electrical emergency-stop device; the suitability and compliance of the complete gas safety system depends on the valve, controller, wiring and overall system design.
Contact Configuration
Contact arrangement: 1x NC + 1x NO
NC terminals 1 + 2:
Circuit closed during normal operation and opened when the emergency button is pressed.
NO terminals 3 + 4:
Circuit open during normal operation and closed when the emergency button is pressed.
This arrangement provides considerable flexibility for emergency isolation, signalling and alarm circuits.

Standards & Protection
The emergency stop switch conforms to IEC/EN 60947-5-1 and provides IP65 ingress protection when correctly installed.
The Class II double-insulated enclosure provides additional electrical protection without relying on a protective earth connection to the thermoplastic housing.
