Description
3/4" Latching Irrigation Solenoid Valve – PN22506AL
The PN22506AL is a 3/4" latching irrigation solenoid valve designed for battery-powered, remote and low-energy water control systems. Its bi-stable operation requires only a short DC electrical pulse to change valve position, allowing the valve to remain open or closed without continuous electrical power.
Featuring a heavy-duty glass-reinforced UV-resistant PA66 body, large 25mm flow orifice and integrated flow controller, the PN22506AL combines high water flow with low-energy operation for agricultural irrigation, sprinkler systems, landscaping and automated watering installations.
The valve also incorporates anti-water hammer operation, manual override and an external bleed screw with removable metering pin, providing convenient flow adjustment, manual operation and cleaning without complete valve disassembly.
Latching / Bi-Stable Operation
Function: 2/2 way latching / bi-stable
Operation: Servo / pressure assisted
Unlike a conventional normally closed irrigation solenoid valve that requires continuous electrical power to remain open, the PN22506AL uses a short electrical pulse to change state.
Pulse in one polarity → valve opens and stays open
Reverse polarity pulse → valve closes and stays closed
Once switched, the valve maintains its position without continuous coil power.
This makes the PN22506AL particularly useful for battery-operated irrigation controllers, remote watering systems and installations where minimising electrical consumption is important.

Optional: NPT thread
Orifice: 25mm
Water flow: 126.9 L/min
Low-Power Pulse Coil

Pulse duration: 20–100 milliseconds
Coil resistance: 6Ω
Capacitor: 4700µF required
Protection: IP66
Polarity Reversal Control
The PN22506AL is controlled by reversing the polarity applied to the latching coil.
A short pulse in one polarity switches the valve into one position. Reversing the positive and negative connections for the next pulse switches the valve back.
Because power is only required during the switching pulse, electrical consumption is substantially reduced compared with a continuously energised conventional solenoid valve.

PN22506A or PN22506AL?
PN22506A – Normally Closed
Conventional electrically operated version requiring the coil to remain energised while the valve is open.
PN22506AL – Latching / Bi-Stable
Requires only a short polarity-controlled DC pulse to change position and then remains in that position without continuous coil power.
That distinction is worth making very obvious on both product pages because battery-powered irrigation is the strongest reason for choosing the PN22506AL.
