1½" WRAS Stainless Steel Modulating Ball Valve – ABV14S/9M


The ABV14S/9M Series 1½" WRAS stainless steel motorised ball valve provides proportional flow control for potable water, HVAC, water treatment and industrial process applications.

Combining a full-bore 40mm SS304 stainless steel valve with WRAS approved PTFE/EPDM seals and a compact IP67 electric actuator, it offers accurate valve positioning for automated water control systems.

Featuring 4–20mA modulating control as standard, with optional 0–5V or 0–10V inputs, all three configurations provide 4–20mA analogue position feedback. NPN fault monitoring, manual override and supercapacitor failsafe options are available.

Modulating Control & Position Feedback

The ABV/9M actuator provides proportional valve positioning across its 90° operating range, with 4–20mA analogue feedback available for all three control inputs.

Control Input / Position Feedback:
  • 4–20mA / 4–20mA – Standard
  • 0–5V / 4–20mA – Optional
  • 0–10V / 4–20mA – Optional
  • 1–5V / 1–5V – Special order
Position feedback allows compatible PLC, BMS and industrial control systems to monitor actuator position independently of the selected control input.
Actual flow rate depends on valve position, pressure differential and the valve's inherent flow characteristics. Actuator position is not necessarily proportional to flow rate.

Electrical Wiring & NPN Fault Output


Power Supply:
  • RED – Positive 12–24V DC
  • BLACK – Negative DC supply

Modulating Control:
  • GREEN – Positive analogue control input
  • BLUE – Signal common

Position Feedback:
  • WHITE – Positive analogue feedback output
  • BLUE – Signal common

NPN Fault Status – YELLOW Wire:
  • Normal: NPN ON – Connected to BLACK (0V)
  • Fault / blockage: NPN OFF – Open circuit
  • Maximum Switching Voltage: 25V DC
  • Maximum Switching Current: 100mA
The NPN output provides a separate fault indication for compatible PLC and BMS monitoring circuits. It is a switching output, not an analogue signal or positive-voltage supply.

Optional Failsafe Return – ABV14S/9MAR

The optional ABV/9MAR supercapacitor-powered failsafe actuator automatically returns the valve to its specified safe position following loss of electrical power.

Available Failsafe Configurations:
  • 4–20mA input / 4–20mA feedback – Standard stocked
  • 0–10V input / 4–20mA feedback – Available
  • 0–5V input / 4–20mA feedback – Available on request

Failsafe Features:
✓ Automatic return to a predetermined valve position
✓ 4–20mA analogue position feedback
✓ NPN fault output rated 25V DC / 100mA maximum
✓ Approximately 1.5–2 minutes capacitor recharge time with power applied
The required failsafe position must be specified when ordering. Repeated power interruptions before recharge is complete may prevent another full failsafe operation.
Failsafe operation is optional and is not included with the standard ABV14S/9M.
