20Nm IP67 Modulating Electric Valve Actuator – ABV/9M
The ABV/9M is a compact 90° quarter-turn modulating electric actuator designed for proportional control of ball valves, butterfly valves and compatible rotary valves.
Delivering 15Nm running torque and up to 20Nm breakaway torque, it provides accurate valve positioning for PLC automation, BMS, HVAC, water treatment and industrial process-control applications.
Featuring 4–20mA modulating control as standard, with optional 0–5V or 0–10V inputs, all three configurations provide 4–20mA analogue position feedback.
The actuator incorporates IP67 protection, ISO5211 mounting, manual override and NPN fault monitoring, with an optional supercapacitor-powered failsafe version.

Modulating Control & Position Feedback
The ABV/9M provides proportional positioning throughout its 90° operating range, allowing compatible valves to be positioned between fully open and fully closed.
Control Input / Position Feedback:
- 4–20mA / 4–20mA – Standard

The analogue position feedback allows compatible PLC, BMS and industrial control systems to monitor actual actuator position independently of the selected control input.
The actuator provides 75 positioning steps across its 90° travel. Actual fluid flow depends on the connected valve design, pressure differential and operating conditions; valve position is not necessarily proportional to flow rate.

The NPN output provides a separate fault indication for compatible PLC, BMS and industrial monitoring circuits. It is a switching output, not an analogue position feedback signal or positive-voltage supply.
Optional Failsafe Return – ABV/9MAR
The optional ABV/9MAR incorporates a supercapacitor-powered failsafe system that automatically returns the connected valve to its specified safe position following loss of electrical power.
Available Failsafe Configurations:
- 4–20mA input / 4–20mA feedback – Standard stocked
- 0–10V input / 4–20mA feedback – Available
- 0–5V input / 4–20mA feedback – Available on request

The required failsafe position must be specified when ordering. Repeated power interruptions before recharge is complete may prevent another full failsafe operation.
Failsafe operation is optional and is not included with the standard ABV/9M.
Construction & Mounting
The ABV/9M features a compact engineering plastic enclosure with internal metal gearing for dependable quarter-turn operation.
The ISO5211 F03/F05 mounting interface allows installation onto compatible ball valves, butterfly valves and other rotary valve assemblies.
An 11mm female square drive is provided as standard, with an optional 9mm reducing adaptor for smaller valve stems.
The IP67 enclosure provides protection against dust ingress and temporary water immersion under specified test conditions.
Actuator torque, mounting dimensions, drive connection and required operating angle must be checked against the selected valve before installation.
