Description
3/4" & 1" Refrigerant Solenoid Valve 0.5–30 Bar – RSG 216-DN25-G
The RSG 216-DN25-G is a high-flow 2/2 way refrigerant gas solenoid valve designed for refrigeration, cooling and industrial fluid systems requiring larger threaded connections and high flow capacity.
Available with 3/4" or 1" BSPP (G) female connections, the valve uses a pressure-assisted piston design with an 18mm flow orifice. Normally closed operation is standard, with a normally open version available.
With operating pressure from 0.5 to 30 Bar, burst pressure of 180 Bar and media temperatures from -40°C to +150°C, the 216-DN25-G is designed for demanding refrigeration and refrigerant-fluid applications.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 Way Normally Closed
Option: Normally Open
Operation: Pressure Assisted Piston
Nominal Size: DN25
Orifice: 18mm
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0.5 Bar
Maximum Operating Pressure: 30 Bar
Burst Pressure: 180 Bar
The pressure-assisted piston construction provides a large flow capacity while allowing the valve to use a compact, low-power solenoid operator.
Ports & Connections
Available Connections:
✓ 3/4" BSPP (G)
✓ 1" BSPP (G)
The threaded connections make the DN25-G particularly suitable for larger refrigeration installations where conventional BSPP pipework or adaptors are used rather than direct solder-tube connections.
Orifice & Flow Capacity
Orifice: 18mm
Flow capacity depends on the selected connection:
3/4" BSPP – Kv 12 m³/h
1" BSPP – Kv 13 m³/h
These are conventional Kv values based on water with a pressure differential of 1 Bar.
The combination of an 18mm orifice and flow capacity up to 13 m³/h makes this a substantially higher-flow valve than the smaller DN12 refrigerant versions.
Refrigerant Gas Compatibility
The 216-DN25-G is designed for compatible refrigerant gases and liquids including:
✓ R23
✓ R134A
✓ R407C
✓ R410A
✓ R507
✓ R513
✓ R1234yf
✓ R1224yd
✓ R1234ze
✓ R449A
✓ R469A
It can also be considered for other compatible gases, oils and fluids with viscosity below 40 cSt, subject to compatibility with all wetted materials.
The valve should not be operated dry without media.
Construction & Materials
Body: Brass
Optional Body: AISI 303 Stainless Steel
Internals: Stainless Steel
Standard Seal: EPDM
Optional Seals:
✓ NBR
✓ FKM
✓ CR
Standard Seat: PTFE
Optional Seats:
✓ FKM
✓ CR
The range of elastomer and seat materials allows the valve configuration to be selected around the refrigerant, lubricant and operating temperature.
EPDM & PTFE Standard Configuration
The standard configuration combines an EPDM seal with a PTFE valve seat.
EPDM provides good performance with many compatible refrigerant applications, while PTFE provides low friction, broad chemical resistance and a wide operating-temperature capability.
Where a different refrigerant, oil or process fluid is being used, the alternative NBR, FKM or CR configurations can be considered according to compatibility.
Wide Temperature Range
Media Temperature:
-40°C to +150°C
Ambient Temperature:
-40°C to +70°C
This wide operating range allows the 216-DN25-G to be used across refrigeration applications involving both low evaporating temperatures and high-temperature sections of the system.
The actual permissible operating temperature should always be considered alongside the selected refrigerant, seal, seat and coil configuration.
System 15/40 Solenoid Coil
The DN25-G uses the larger System 15/40 solenoid operator required for its 18mm piston valve.
DC Power: 10 Watts
AC Power: 10VA
Duty Cycle: 100%
Insulation: Class F
Electrical Connection: DIN43650A
Protection: IP65 with Connector
The relatively low 10W / 10VA power consumption is particularly useful for refrigeration machinery where valves may remain energised for extended periods.
Voltage Options
Available voltages include:
✓ 12V DC
✓ 24V DC
✓ 200V DC
✓ 24V AC
✓ 110V AC
✓ 230V AC
AC voltages are suitable for 50/60Hz operation.
IP65 Protection
The solenoid operator is supplied with its DIN electrical connector, providing:
IP65 protection when correctly fitted
This provides protection suitable for typical industrial refrigeration machinery and equipment installations.
Mounting Provision
The valve incorporates:
2 × M8 mounting holes
These allow the relatively large DN25 valve to be securely supported within refrigeration machinery, process equipment or OEM assemblies rather than relying entirely upon the connecting pipework.
Normally Open Option
Although normally closed is the standard configuration, a normally open version is also available.
This allows the same basic DN25-G platform to be selected according to the required system fail position.
Normally Closed:
Valve closes when de-energised.
Normally Open:
Valve remains open when de-energised and closes when electrically actuated.
Typical Applications
✓ Industrial Refrigeration
✓ Commercial Refrigeration
✓ Refrigerant Gas Systems
✓ Refrigerant Liquid Lines
✓ Heat Pump Systems
✓ Industrial Chillers
✓ Cooling Systems
✓ Refrigeration Compressors
✓ Process Cooling Equipment
✓ OEM Refrigeration Equipment
✓ Refrigeration Test Equipment
✓ Compatible Oil & Fluid Systems
Why Choose the RSG 216-DN25-G?
The RSG 216-DN25-G provides a high-flow threaded refrigerant solenoid valve for applications requiring considerably greater capacity than smaller refrigeration valves.
Its 3/4" or 1" BSPP connections, 18mm orifice and Kv up to 13 m³/h provide excellent flow capacity while retaining a relatively low-powered 10W / 10VA solenoid operator.
Combined with a 0.5–30 Bar operating range, 180 Bar burst pressure and -40°C to +150°C media temperature range, the valve provides a versatile solution for demanding commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
