Description
1" 5–120 Bar Proportional Pressure Limiting Valve – RSG 780-E
The RSG Type 780-E is an externally controlled proportional pressure limiting valve designed for stepless pressure regulation of liquid media at operating pressures from 5 to 120 Bar.
Unlike a conventional pressure reducing valve with a manually adjusted set point, the 780-E uses an electrical 0–10V analogue control signal to continuously vary the pressure setting.
Its bypass pressure-limiting design provides electronically adjustable pressure control for hydraulic, process and industrial liquid systems.
The valve has a DN15 internal flow path, 6 m³/h flow capacity, galvanised steel construction and a standard G1 BSP process connection.
Stepless 0–10V Pressure Control
The principal feature of the RSG 780-E is its continuously variable electronic pressure control.
Control Signal: 0–10V
Pressure Range: 5–120 Bar
Nominal Voltage: 24V DC
Rather than switching between fixed pressure states, the electrical set-point signal allows the required pressure to be continuously adjusted across the operating range.
This makes the valve particularly useful for automated machinery where pressure needs to be changed dynamically by a PLC, controller or analogue process signal.
Pressure Limiting Bypass Operation
The RSG 780-E operates as a pressure limiting valve with bypass control.
When system pressure reaches the electrically determined set point, the valve controls the bypass flow to limit pressure within the system.
This makes the 780-E fundamentally different from a conventional inline pressure reducing regulator: it is intended for electronically controlled pressure limitation through a bypass arrangement.
Pressure & Flow Performance
Pressure Range: 5 to 120 Bar
Nominal Diameter: DN15
Orifice: 15mm
Flow Capacity: 6 m³/h
Standard Connection: G1 BSP
Special Option: G1¼ BSP
0–10V Control Characteristic
The control-pressure diagram on page 2 shows the relationship between the 0–10V electrical set point and the permitted control-pressure range.
As the analogue set-point voltage increases, the controlled pressure setting increases progressively, allowing pressure to be adjusted electronically rather than mechanically.
This provides a practical interface for:
✓ PLC Analogue Outputs
✓ Process Controllers
✓ Machine Control Systems
✓ Automated Test Equipment
✓ Variable Pressure Processes
✓ Remote Pressure Adjustment
Control Air Supply
The 780-E is externally controlled and requires a pneumatic control-air supply.
Control Air: Maximum 8 Bar
Filtration: 40 Micron
A clean, correctly filtered pilot-air supply should be maintained for reliable pressure-control performance.
Contaminated Liquid Media
The RSG 780-E is specifically designed to control liquid media containing contamination up to 50 microns.
Media: Liquid
Maximum Contamination: 50µ
This makes the valve useful in industrial liquid systems where perfectly clean process fluid cannot always be guaranteed.
Fluid compatibility with the galvanised steel body and FKM sealing must still be confirmed for the actual process medium.
Construction & Materials
Body: Galvanised Steel
Seals: FKM
Nominal Diameter: DN15
The robust steel construction is intended for demanding industrial pressure-control applications.
For corrosive or chemically aggressive liquids, compatibility with the galvanised steel body and FKM sealing should be confirmed before selection.
Temperature
Media Temperature: 0°C to +60°C
Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +50°C
These limits apply to the manufacturer's standard 780-E configuration.
Electrical Specification
Nominal Voltage: 24V DC
Control Signal: 0–10V
Maximum Residual Ripple: 10%
Voltage Tolerance: ±10%
Power Consumption: 2.5 Watts
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Electrical Connection: M12x1
Protection: IP65 with Connector
The M12 electrical connector should preferably be installed in the upright position.
M12 Electrical Control
The M12 connection provides both the electrical supply and analogue control interface for integration with industrial control systems.
The manufacturer's connection diagram identifies:
Pin 1 – Power Supply
Pin 2 – Set Point (-)
Pin 3 – GND (-)
Pin 4 – Set Point (+), 0–10V
This provides a straightforward interface for PLC and electronic pressure-control applications.
Low Power Consumption
Despite providing continuously adjustable pressure control, the 780-E requires only 2.5 Watts electrical power.
Combined with its 100% ED continuous-duty rating, this makes the valve suitable for continuously operating automated pressure-control systems.
Pressure Minimisation & Residual Pressure
The manufacturer provides a pressure-minimisation characteristic showing that residual pressure depends upon bypass flow.
The graph on page 2 indicates approximately 4 Bar residual pressure at zero flow, increasing progressively to approximately 6.5 Bar at 6 m³/h.
This characteristic is important when the application requires the lowest achievable pressure rather than simply regulation at higher pressure settings.
Noise Level
Noise Emission: Approximately 70 dBA maximum
This figure is measured at:
Residual Pressure: 6.5 Bar
Flow: 6 m³/h

Why Choose the RSG 780-E?
The RSG 780-E combines a 5–120 Bar operating range with stepless 0–10V electronic pressure adjustment, providing a practical solution where system pressure needs to be controlled automatically rather than manually.
Its bypass pressure-limiting design, 6 m³/h flow capacity and ability to handle liquids with contamination up to 50µ make it particularly suited to industrial machinery and process systems.
With a 24V DC supply, M12 connection, only 2.5W power consumption and 100% continuous-duty rating, the 780-E can be readily integrated with PLC and automated machine-control systems.
