Description
1" Proportional Pressure Reducing Valve 0–200 Bar – RSG 786-E
The RSG Type 786-E is an electronically controlled proportional pressure reducing valve designed for precise, stepless downstream pressure regulation in high-pressure liquid systems.
Unlike the 780-E and 785-E pressure limiting valves we have just covered, the 786-E is installed inline as a pressure reducing valve. It continuously regulates the downstream pressure according to an electrical 0–10V analogue set-point signal.
The standard valve is DN12 with G1 BSP connections, providing a maximum flow rate of 3.75 m³/h and an overall inlet pressure capability up to 200 Bar.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: Pressure Reducing Valve
Operation: Externally Controlled
Valve Function: Normally Closed
Control: Electronic Proportional
Control Signal: 0–10V
Nominal Diameter: DN12
The manufacturer specifically defines the 786-E as externally controlled, normally closed and providing stepless pressure reduction through a 0–10V electrical set point.
Rather than simply opening when an overpressure condition occurs, the 786-E continuously adjusts to maintain the required downstream pressure.
Stepless 0–10V Pressure Control
The required outlet pressure is determined by the external 0–10V analogue signal.
This allows the downstream pressure to be adjusted continuously from a compatible:
✓ PLC Analogue Output
✓ Process Controller
✓ Machine Control System
✓ Automated Test System
✓ Remote Pressure Controller
✓ Proportional Control System
This makes the 786-E particularly useful where different operating stages require different pressure settings without manual regulator adjustment.
Pressure & Control Range
Maximum Pressure: 200 Bar
Two actuator configurations provide different downstream control ranges:
AG1 – Single Piston
Control Range: 0–100 Bar
AG2 – Double Piston
Control Range: 0–200 Bar
The distinction is important: 200 Bar is the maximum pressure capability of the valve, while the controllable outlet-pressure range depends on whether AG1 or AG2 is selected.
The manufacturer ordering information likewise identifies AG1 for up to 100 Bar and AG2 for up to 200 Bar.
DN12 Flow Capacity
Nominal Diameter: DN12
Flow Rate: 3.75 m³/h
Connection: G1 BSP
Unlike the 785 Series, where several different nominal diameters and flow capacities are available, the 786-E datasheet specifies a DN12 valve with 3.75 m³/h flow capacity.
Inline Pressure Reduction
The 786-E should be distinguished from the bypass pressure limiting valves in the preceding 780 and 785 families.
786-E → Pressure Reducing
785-E → Pressure Limiting
The 786-E regulates the pressure supplied to the downstream process. This makes it suitable where equipment requires a controlled pressure lower than the available upstream supply.
AISI 303 Stainless Steel Body
Body: AISI 303 Stainless Steel
Seal: FKM
Connection: G1 BSP
Nominal Diameter: DN12
The manufacturer's material designation is 1.4305 / AISI 303 stainless steel, with FKM sealing.
Compatibility should be confirmed between the process liquid and both AISI 303 stainless steel and FKM.
Liquid Media & Filtration
Media: Compatible Liquids
Maximum Contamination: 50 Microns
The 786-E is designed for liquid media with contamination up to 50µ.
The pneumatic control system requires:
Control Air: Maximum 8 Bar
Control Air Filtration: 40 Microns
This allows the pressure reducing valve to control process pressures up to 200 Bar using a considerably lower pneumatic control pressure.
Temperature
Media Temperature: 0°C to +60°C
Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +50°C
These temperature limits apply to the standard AISI 303 and FKM configuration.
Electrical Specification
Nominal Voltage: 24V DC
Control Signal: 0–10V
Maximum Residual Ripple: 10%
Voltage Tolerance: ±10%
Power Consumption: 2.5 Watts
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Electrical Connection: M12x1
Protection: IP65 with Connector
The manufacturer's specification confirms continuous-duty operation with only 2.5W power consumption.
M12 Electrical Control
The connection diagram on page 1 shows a four-pin M12 electrical interface for the power supply and analogue set point.
Pin 1 – Power Supply
Pin 2 – Set Point (-)
Pin 3 – GND (-)
Pin 4 – Set Point (+), 0–10V
This provides straightforward integration with PLC and industrial analogue control systems.
AG1 & AG2 Actuator Options
The dimensional drawings on page 2 show the two actuator configurations:
AG1 – Single Piston
AG2 – Double Piston
The AG2 assembly provides the additional actuation capability required for the higher 0–200 Bar pressure-control range.
Mounting Position
The manufacturer recommends:
M12 connector preferably upright
This is the preferred mounting orientation for the standard 786-E assembly.

Why Choose the RSG 786-E?
The RSG 786-E provides true electronically controlled downstream pressure reduction, rather than bypass pressure limitation.
Its 0–10V proportional set point enables the required outlet pressure to be changed continuously by a PLC or process controller, providing real-time pressure adjustment without manual regulator intervention.
With 0–100 Bar AG1 or 0–200 Bar AG2 control ranges, DN12 flow capacity of 3.75 m³/h, G1 BSP connections, AISI 303 stainless steel construction and IP65 M12 electrical control, the 786-E provides a specialist solution for automated high-pressure liquid regulation.
