1/2" WRAS Brass Motorised Ball Valve 40 Bar ABV04W

The ABV04W-E2-MO 1/2" WRAS approved motorised ball valve combines a high-pressure nickel-plated brass ball valve with a compact IP67 electric actuator for reliable automatic control of potable water, air and compatible fluid systems.

The valve features a full 15mm flow bore, 1/2" BSP female connections and an ISO 5211 direct-mount actuator interface. Rated for pressures from 0 to 40 bar, the valve uses CW617N brass for the body and ball, PTFE seats and Viton O-rings.

Available with Failsafe Closed, Failsafe Open or Power Open/Power Close control, the ABV04W provides approximately 10-second operation together with manual override, visual position indication and E2 volt-free open and closed position feedback.

The valve can be supplied with either 12–24V DC / 24V AC multi-voltage operation or 110–240V AC multi-voltage operation.

Control Options

Failsafe Closed

Power ON → Valve opens

Power failure/OFF → Valve automatically closes using stored electrical energy.

Ideal where the safe condition is a closed valve following loss of electrical power.

Failsafe Open

Power ON → Valve closes

Power failure/OFF → Valve automatically opens using stored electrical energy.

Ideal where the safe condition requires the valve to open automatically following power loss.

Power Open / Power Close

Permanent power supply to actuator.

Control signal ON → Valve opens

Control signal OFF → Valve closes

This provides straightforward electrical open/close control without automatic failsafe return.

Failsafe Reserve Power

The failsafe actuator incorporates internal electrical energy storage rather than relying upon an external battery or mechanical spring.

Allow approximately 1–2 minutes of continuous power for the reserve-energy system to fully charge, particularly when first installed or after the actuator has been left unpowered.

Once charged, the stored energy automatically drives the valve to its predetermined safe position following loss of supply.

E2 Open & Closed Position Feedback

Two volt-free position switches provide independent confirmation of the fully open and fully closed valve positions.

No voltage is supplied by the feedback switches.

For the failsafe configuration:

Green: Open position

Yellow: Closed position

White: Common

For Power Open / Power Close:

Blue & Grey: Open feedback

Yellow & White: Closed feedback

The earlier wiring diagram confirms these feedback arrangements.

Manual Override

A manual override allows the valve to be repositioned when required during installation, commissioning or maintenance.

Allen key supplied.

Flow Performance

The 1/2" valve has a 15mm flow bore and Kv 16.3, providing substantially less flow restriction than small-orifice motorised or solenoid valves.

This makes the ABV04W particularly suitable for applications requiring positive isolation combined with good unrestricted flow.

Long-Term Cycle Testing

For additional durability testing, a similar ABV motorised valve and failsafe actuator assembly was operated continuously on an automated cycle test.

Testing began on 1 November 2020, with the valve opening for 30 seconds and closing for 30 seconds continuously.

The test unit eventually failed in October 2022 after: 977,762 open and close cycles

Hi Kyle, Just a note whilst we are in contact. I just wanted to say how impressed I am with your service, used you a fair few times now and the service is great, thank you. Second note, I have bought a few of your motorised stainless ball valves now and I must say I am really impressed with them, reliability seems great so far and hope they will give many years of service. I am using 3 of the 1" stainless versions in 240v to control the washing of bulk milk tanks and they are working great. I modified them to be normally open (turned the motor head 90deg and opened the valve) rather than closed without having power on the green wire as I bought the power open, power close as I thought these might suit the on off cycling they are used for. I have them set to alternate open and close X1 open when the other two are closed and then alternate every 20 secs in a 3-5min was cycle.
