Description
3/4" WRAS Normally Open Water Solenoid Valve – ASCO Sirai L282D01
The ASCO Sirai L282D01-3/4 is a 3/4" BSP WRAS approved normally open brass solenoid valve designed for potable water, commercial water services, water treatment and industrial water-control applications.
This 2/2 way normally open, pressure-assisted diaphragm valve is open when de-energised and closes when electrical power is applied. The 18mm orifice, Kv flow factor of 5.0 m³/h and low 0.35 Bar minimum differential pressure provide excellent flow performance for commercial and industrial water systems requiring fail-open operation.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 Way Normally Open
Fail Position: Open
Energised Position: Closed
Operation: Pressure Assisted Diaphragm
Design: Full Orifice Pilot Operated
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0.35 Bar
Maximum Differential Pressure: 10 Bar
Maximum Allowable Pressure (PS): 20 Bar
The pilot-operated diaphragm construction provides a large flow path while maintaining relatively low electrical power consumption. A minimum 0.35 Bar pressure differential is required for reliable operation.
3/4" BSPP Connection & Flow
Port: 3/4" BSPP Female
Thread Standard: ISO 228
Orifice: 18mm
Kv Flow Factor: 5.0 m³/h
The larger 18mm orifice provides increased flow capacity compared with the smaller L282 models, making the 3/4" version particularly useful for commercial water systems, water treatment and industrial process-water applications.
WRAS Approved EPDM Seals
The L282 is available with WRAS certified EPDM sealing material for potable-water applications.
✓ Latest WRAS Approval No. 250702716
✓ Approval Valid Until 31 July 2030
Body: Brass
Internal Components: Brass & Stainless Steel
Core Tube: Stainless Steel
Seal Material: WRAS Approved EPDM
Seat: Brass
This provides robust industrial valve construction combined with sealing materials suitable for WRAS potable-water applications.
Potable Water Applications
Suitable applications include:
✓ Potable Water
✓ Process Water
✓ Water Treatment
✓ Commercial Water Systems
✓ Industrial Water Control
✓ Fail-Open Water Circuits
✓ Compatible Liquids
Maximum Media Viscosity: 37 cSt
For liquids other than water, compatibility with the brass, stainless steel and EPDM wetted materials should be confirmed.
Normally Open Fail-Safe Operation
The L282 is designed to remain open when electrical power is removed and close when the solenoid is energised.
This makes it particularly suitable for water-control systems where the required power-failure position is open, allowing water flow to resume automatically following loss of electrical power.
Controlled Switching
Opening Time: Approximately 300–1500ms
Closing Time: Approximately 1000–2000ms
The controlled diaphragm movement helps reduce abrupt changes in water flow and associated hydraulic shock.
Solenoid Coil
DC Power: 5.5 Watts
AC Power:
11.7VA Inrush
10VA Holding
Duty Cycle: ED 100% Continuous
Insulation: Class F
Electrical Connection: 3-Pole Plug Connector
Connector Standard: EN 175301-803
Protection: IP65/IP67 according to coil
The continuous-duty operator allows the valve to remain energised for extended periods where required.
Voltage Options
DC:
✓ 12V DC
✓ 24V DC
AC:
✓ 24V AC
✓ 110/120V AC

Why Choose the 3/4" L282D01?
The 3/4" L282D01 offers an excellent balance between compact installation dimensions and increased water-flow capacity.
Its 18mm orifice and Kv 5.0 m³/h provide greater flow than the smaller L282 models, while the 0.35 Bar minimum differential pressure allows reliable operation across a broad range of conventional water systems.
The combination of normally open fail-safe operation, WRAS approved EPDM sealing, continuous-duty operation and proven ASCO Sirai construction makes it particularly useful for commercial water, water-treatment and industrial installations where the required power-failure position is open.
Available L282 Sizes
