Description
1/4" PVC Solenoid Valve for Chemical Dosing – UDC8
The UDC8 is a compact 1/4" 2/2 way normally closed solenoid valve designed for controlling strong acids, alkalis and corrosive chemical fluids compatible with PVC and PTFE.
Featuring a corrosion-resistant PVC valve body with a PTFE sealing system and isolated dry-armature construction, the UDC8 helps protect the solenoid mechanism from aggressive process media. The manufacturer specifies the UDC range for strong acid and strong alkali service, with PVC body corrosion resistance stated as pH 3–11.
The zero-pressure assisted-lift design operates from 0 Bar without requiring a minimum pressure differential, making it suitable for chemical dosing, water treatment, laboratory equipment and industrial process applications where conventional metallic valves may be unsuitable. The UDC8 is rated from 0 to 1 Bar with a 6.5mm orifice and 4.7 L/min water flow at 1 Bar pressure drop.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 way normally closed
Operation: Assisted lift
Design: Isolated dry armature
Normal Position: Closed when de-energised
Energised Position: Open
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
The assisted-lift design allows the UDC8 to operate from zero pressure while the isolated construction helps separate aggressive process media from the solenoid armature mechanism.
Ports & Connections
Port Size: 1/4" BSP
Optional Thread: NPT
The compact 1/4" connection makes the UDC8 particularly suitable for chemical dosing equipment, laboratory systems, OEM machinery and smaller process lines.
Pressure & Performance
Operating Pressure: 0 to 1 Bar
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
Orifice: 6.5mm
Water Flow: 4.7 L/min at 1 Bar pressure drop
Maximum Media Viscosity: 20 cSt
Vacuum: Not suitable
Construction & Materials
Body: PVC
Seals: PTFE
Diaphragm: NBR with PTFE coating
Solenoid Tube: Stainless steel
Armature: 430F stainless steel
Shading Ring: Copper
Coil Housing: Resin or metal
The PVC body is specified for corrosion resistance across approximately pH 3–11, making the UDC8 suitable for many aggressive chemical applications where brass or conventional metallic valve bodies would be unsuitable.
Chemical & Media Compatibility
Suitable for compatible:
✓ Strong acids
✓ Strong alkalis
✓ Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
✓ Sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄)

Why Choose the UDC8?
The UDC8 combines a corrosion-resistant PVC body, PTFE sealing system and isolated dry-armature design in a compact 1/4" solenoid valve.
Unlike conventional pressure-assisted diaphragm valves requiring inlet pressure to operate, the UDC8 operates from 0 Bar, making it particularly useful for low-pressure chemical dosing and gravity-fed process systems.
For chemicals requiring greater corrosion resistance, the UDC range is also available with a full PTFE body, specified by the manufacturer for approximately pH 0–14 service.
