Description
Pneumatic Air Gripper – HYC Fulcrum Type 10–32mm Bore
The Shako HYC Series is a compact double-acting pneumatic air gripper featuring a fulcrum-type gripping action for automated handling, pick-and-place, assembly and OEM machinery applications.
Available in 10mm, 16mm, 20mm, 25mm and 32mm bore sizes, the HYC Series provides a compact, space-saving gripping solution with operating pressures from 1.5 to 7 kgf/cm² and an operating angle from -10° to +30°.
All sizes feature an aluminium alloy body and built-in magnet for optional magnetic position sensing, allowing gripper position to be detected and integrated into automated control systems.
The standard sensor option offered is the Shako AL-07 round magnetic sensor, available with reed, NPN or PNP switching. Square AL-16 sensors are also available on request.

The HYC Series uses compressed air to open and close the gripping mechanism. Unlike the related HPC parallel gripper, the HYC jaws move through an angular fulcrum action.
The compact design makes the HYC particularly suitable for automated machinery where installation space is limited and controlled gripping of components is required.

The compact HYC10 uses an M3 pneumatic connection, while the larger 16mm to 32mm bore versions use M5 pneumatic ports.
Magnetic Position Sensor Options
All HYC Series pneumatic grippers incorporate a built-in magnet, allowing optional magnetic sensors to provide electrical position detection for automated machinery and control systems.
The standard sensor family offered with the HYC Series is the Shako AL-07 round magnetic sensor, identified by the SR sensor code.
Three AL-07 switching types are available:
AL-07R – Reed Switch
Mechanical reed switching technology
Switches ON/OFF in response to the gripper's built-in magnet
Standard and most commonly used Shako cylinder sensor type
AL-07N – NPN Electronic Sensor
Solid-state electronic sensor with IC switching
NPN current-sinking output
Faster response and greater sensitivity than the reed version
AL-07P – PNP Electronic Sensor
Solid-state electronic sensor with IC switching
PNP current-sourcing output
Faster response and greater sensitivity than the reed version
For most conventional pneumatic cylinder and gripper applications, the AL-07R reed sensor is the standard choice. NPN and PNP electronic versions are available where the control system requires the corresponding electronic output or where faster response and greater sensitivity are required.

1 Sensor: One magnetic position sensor
2 Sensors: Two magnetic position sensors
Two sensors can be used where detection of both gripper positions is required.
Alternative AL-16 Sensor
The HYC Series can also accept the Shako AL-16 square magnetic sensor, identified by the SU sensor code.
AL-16 is available in:

AL-16P – PNP electronic
The AL-16/SU sensor is available on request and is not included within the standard selectable product options.

Sensor Selection Guide
AL-07R Reed: Best general-purpose option and the most commonly used Shako sensor.
AL-07N NPN: Electronic sensor with NPN current-sinking output for compatible PLC and control inputs.
AL-07P PNP: Electronic sensor with PNP current-sourcing output for compatible PLC and control inputs.
The NPN and PNP versions provide faster response and greater sensitivity than the mechanical reed version, while the reed sensor remains the normal choice for most standard applications.
