3" Latching Irrigation Solenoid Valve – PN22528AL
The PN22528AL is a heavy-duty 3" BSP bi-stable latching irrigation solenoid valve designed for high-flow water control where low electrical power consumption is important.
Unlike a conventional continuously energised solenoid valve, the PN22528AL requires only a short DC electrical pulse to change position. Once switched, the valve remains in its selected open or closed state without continuous coil power.
This makes it particularly suitable for battery-powered, solar-powered and remote irrigation systems, as well as agricultural sprinklers, greenhouse watering, landscaping and underground water installations.

Bi-Stable Latching Operation
The PN22528AL does not require continuous electrical power to maintain its operating position.
A short DC pulse changes the valve state:
✓ DC pulse → changes valve position
✓ Reverse polarity → changes position back
✓ Remains latched after pulse ends
✓ No continuous coil power required
✓ Pulse Duration: 20–100 milliseconds
This provides exceptionally low electrical consumption compared with a conventional continuously energised solenoid valve.

The reinforced PA66 body provides excellent corrosion and UV resistance while keeping the large 3" valve relatively lightweight.
Manual Override
An integrated manual override allows the irrigation valve to be operated manually when required.
This is particularly useful during installation, commissioning, maintenance or when electrical control is temporarily unavailable.
Anti-Water Hammer Design
The pressure-assisted diaphragm design provides controlled operation to help reduce hydraulic shock and water hammer.
This is particularly beneficial on large irrigation systems where rapidly stopping a high volume of water can create damaging pressure surges.
External Bleed & Easy Cleaning
An external bleed arrangement and removable metering pin allow the pilot system to be cleaned and maintained without completely dismantling the valve.
This is useful in agricultural and irrigation installations where sediment or contamination may be present in the water supply.
