Shako PU225 Solenoid Valve Seal & Diaphragm Repair Kit – ZGPU225
The Shako ZGPU225 Series is a replacement seal, diaphragm and plunger repair kit for PU225 Series 2/2 way normally closed pilot-operated solenoid valves.
Designed for genuine Shako brass and stainless steel PU225 valves, the repair kit contains the principal internal moving and sealing components required when servicing an existing valve, including the normally closed plunger, plunger spring, armature tube O-ring and diaphragm.
Available for valve sizes from 3/8" to 2", with a choice of NBR, FKM/Viton, EPDM or HNBR seal materials for standard PU225A valves.
Dedicated WRAS EPDM versions are available for PU225D WRAS approved water solenoid valves, incorporating the slow-closing diaphragm design used to reduce water hammer.

ZGPU225 Repair Kit Contents
Each repair kit consists of the principal serviceable internal components:
✓ Normally closed plunger
✓ Plunger return spring
✓ Armature tube O-ring
✓ Replacement diaphragm
Replacing these components allows an existing PU225 valve to be serviced without automatically replacing the complete solenoid valve.
Standard PU225A Seal Materials
Standard PU225A repair kits are available with four seal material options.
NBR – Nitrile / Buna
Temperature Range: -15°C to +80°C
General-purpose sealing material commonly used with air, water, oils and compatible fluids.
FKM / Viton
Temperature Range: -10°C to +180°C
High-temperature elastomer with good resistance to many oils, fuels and compatible industrial fluids.
EPDM
Temperature Range: -5°C to +130°C
Commonly selected for water, hot water and compatible aqueous media.
HNBR
Temperature Range: -40°C to +150°C
Provides excellent low-temperature capability combined with an elevated maximum operating temperature.
The complete valve's permissible operating temperature can also be limited by its coil, valve construction, pressure and controlled media.
PU225D WRAS Repair Kits
Dedicated WRAS EPDM repair kits are available for the Shako PU225D Series WRAS approved water solenoid valves.
Seal Material: WRAS EPDM
Temperature Range: -5°C to +130°C
The PU225D uses a slow-closing diaphragm design, with approximately 0.5 to 3 second closing time, helping reduce pressure shock and water hammer within water installations.
When maintaining a WRAS PU225D valve, the corresponding WRAS EPDM repair kit should be selected rather than a standard PU225A elastomer kit.
Slow Close Anti-Water-Hammer Design
Rapid closure of a valve in a flowing water system can generate a pressure surge commonly known as water hammer.
The PU225D diaphragm incorporates a controlled slow-closing action, extending valve closure to approximately 0.5–3 seconds.
This progressive closure helps reduce sudden changes in water velocity and therefore reduces the risk of pressure shock within the pipeline.
This makes the PU225D particularly useful in water systems where rapid valve closure could otherwise create unwanted hydraulic shock.

Selecting the Correct Repair Kit
Select the kit according to both the valve port size and seal material.
3/8" or 1/2" → 22503 → 40mm diaphragm
3/4" or 1" → 22506 → 66mm diaphragm
1¼" or 1½" → 22512 → 90.5mm diaphragm
2" → 22520 → 107.5mm diaphragm
Then select the appropriate NBR, FKM/Viton, EPDM or HNBR material for a standard PU225A valve.
For a PU225D WRAS valve, select the corresponding WRAS EPDM slow-close repair kit.
Maintenance & Repair
The diaphragm and plunger are key operating components within a pilot-operated solenoid valve.
Repeated operation, contamination, temperature cycling and exposure to the controlled media can eventually cause the diaphragm, seals or moving armature components to deteriorate.

Why Repair a PU225 Solenoid Valve?
Where the brass or stainless steel valve body, solenoid tube and electrical components remain serviceable, replacing worn internal components can be more economical than replacing the complete solenoid valve.
The ZGPU225 repair kit renews the diaphragm, plunger, spring and armature tube O-ring, covering the principal internal components subject to mechanical movement and sealing wear.
Four elastomer options allow standard PU225 valves to be matched to different operating conditions, while dedicated WRAS EPDM kits maintain the appropriate configuration for PU225D water valves.
