Description

DN15–DN50 PVC or PP Angle Seat Solenoid Valve – RSG 136

The RSG Type 136 is a 2/2 way normally closed plastic angle seat solenoid valve designed for controlling acids, alkalis and other corrosive liquids where conventional metallic valve bodies may be unsuitable.

Available in PVC or polypropylene (PP), the Type 136 combines a direct acting angle seat design with an isolating PTFE bellows. The bellows separates the solenoid operating mechanism from the process medium, providing a chemically resistant flow-control solution with zero differential pressure operation.

The range covers DN15 to DN50, with flow capacities up to 38 m³/h and operating pressure up to 0.5 Bar. RSG specifies PVC or PP construction with EPDM or FKM sealing.

Valve Function & Operation

Function: 2/2 Way Normally Closed
Operation: Direct Acting
Design: Angle Seat Valve
Isolation: PTFE Bellows
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
The direct acting construction means the Type 136 does not rely on process pressure to operate, making it suitable for gravity-fed, low-pressure and atmospheric chemical systems.

Isolating PTFE Bellows

A key feature of the Type 136 is its PTFE bellows isolation system.
The sectional drawing on page 2 shows the PTFE bellows surrounding the valve spindle and separating the process fluid from the solenoid operating assembly.
This provides several advantages for corrosive-fluid applications:
✓ Process Media Isolation
✓ Excellent Chemical Resistance
✓ No Conventional Dynamic Stem Seal
✓ Reduced Solenoid Contamination
✓ Zero Differential Operation
✓ Suitable for Aggressive Fluids

PVC or Polypropylene Construction

Two chemically resistant body materials are available:
PVC
Suitable for many compatible acids, alkalis, water-treatment chemicals and corrosive process liquids.
Polypropylene (PP)
Provides good chemical resistance to a broad range of compatible acids, alkalis and industrial chemical solutions.
Body Options:
✓ PVC
✓ Polypropylene PP
Seal Options:
✓ EPDM
✓ FKM
✓ PTFE Sealing Option

Connections & Nominal Sizes

The Type 136 is available from DN15 to DN50.
PVC versions use cementing spigots, while polypropylene versions use welding spigots.
Available sizes are:
DN15 – 20mm Connection
DN20 – 25mm Connection
DN25 – 32mm Connection
DN32 – 40mm Connection
DN40 – 50mm Connection
DN50 – 63mm Connection

Pressure & Flow Performance

All standard AC versions operate from:
0 to 0.5 Bar
With 24V DC operation, maximum operating pressure is reduced by approximately 20% to around:
0 to 0.4 Bar
The same approximately 20% reduction applies to explosion-protected configurations.
Manufacturer conventional Kv flow capacities are:
DN15 – Kv 3.2 m³/h
DN20 – Kv 7.5 m³/h
DN25 – Kv 10.0 m³/h
DN32 – Kv 16.0 m³/h
DN40 – Kv 26.0 m³/h
DN50 – Kv 38.0 m³/h

High Flow Angle Seat Design

The angle seat flow path provides considerably greater flow capacity than smaller plastic direct acting solenoid valves.
With nominal sizes up to DN50 and Kv values up to 38 m³/h, the Type 136 is particularly useful where a chemically resistant plastic valve is required for comparatively high liquid flow at low process pressure.

Acid, Alkali & Corrosive Media

The RSG 136 can be used with corrosive liquids compatible with the selected body, PTFE bellows and sealing materials.
Typical media can include:
✓ Acids
✓ Alkalis
✓ Chemical Solutions
✓ Water Treatment Chemicals
✓ Cleaning Chemicals
✓ Dosing Chemicals
✓ Corrosive Process Liquids
✓ Compatible Industrial Chemicals
Your specified maximum viscosity is 40 cSt.
Chemical compatibility should always be checked against the exact fluid, concentration, temperature and all wetted materials before selection.

Seal Selection

EPDM
Suitable for many compatible water-based chemicals, acids and alkalis.
FKM
Provides resistance to many oils, hydrocarbons and industrial chemical media.
PTFE
Available as a specialist sealing option where broader chemical resistance is required.
The correct material should be selected around the actual chemical rather than relying on a general acid or alkali classification.

Temperature

Your standard operating specification is:
Media Temperature: +5°C to +50°C Max
Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +50°C
RSG specifies the precise permissible media temperature according to its pressure/temperature and elastomer compatibility charts rather than assigning one universal maximum across every body and seal combination.

Solenoid Coil & Electrical Specification

The Type 136 uses a high-power industrial solenoid operator for direct actuation of the large valve orifices.
Connection: DIN43650A / Form A
Insulation: Class F 155°C
Protection: IP65
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Standard Voltages:
✓ 24V DC
✓ 230V AC 50Hz
✓ Special Voltages Available
The manufacturer's specification confirms DIN EN 175301-803 Form A connection, ±10% voltage tolerance, 100% ED operation and IP65 protection.
Coil Power
Coil power depends upon nominal valve size.
DN15 & DN20:
24V DC – 24 Watts
230V AC – 28 Watts
DN25 to DN50:
24V DC – 32 Watts
230V AC – 41 Watts

ATEX Hazardous Area Option

An explosion-protected solenoid operator is available for suitable hazardous-area installations.
Manufacturer specification:
II 2G Ex m II T4
II 3D IP65 T130°C
The maximum operating pressure is reduced by approximately 20% when the Ex configuration is fitted.

Vacuum & Clean Service Options

The manufacturer also offers specialist mechanical configurations including:
✓ Vacuum Service
✓ Oil & Grease-Free Service
These are defined within the Type 136 ordering system as mechanical options 12 and 16 respectively.

Why Choose the RSG Type 136?

The RSG 136 provides a large-flow plastic solenoid valve solution where chemical resistance and operation from zero differential pressure are required.
Its combination of PVC or polypropylene construction, direct acting angle seat design and isolating PTFE bellows makes it particularly useful for corrosive chemical applications where conventional metallic valves may be unsuitable.
With DN15 to DN50 sizes, conventional Kv values from 3.2 to 38 m³/h, zero-pressure operation, EPDM or FKM seals and options for ATEX, vacuum and oil/grease-free service, the Type 136 provides a specialist solution for high-flow, low-pressure chemical control.
Available Versions
DN15 – 20mm – Kv 3.2 m³/h
DN20 – 25mm – Kv 7.5 m³/h
DN25 – 32mm – Kv 10.0 m³/h
DN32 – 40mm – Kv 16.0 m³/h
DN40 – 50mm – Kv 26.0 m³/h
DN50 – 63mm – Kv 38.0 m³/h
Body:
✓ PVC Cement Spigot
✓ PP Welding Spigot
Function:
✓ 2/2 Normally Closed
The manufacturer's current Type 136 ordering code lists only the A = NC function, so I would keep this particular product page as normally closed rather than advertising a normally open 136B unless you have a separate RSG configuration for it.
