Description
PVC, PP or PTFE Chemical Solenoid Valve – RSG 150A
The RSG Type 150 is a 2/2 way direct acting plastic solenoid valve designed for controlling corrosive acids, alkalis and other aggressive process liquids where conventional metallic valve construction may be unsuitable.
Available with PVC, polypropylene (PP) or PTFE valve bodies, the Type 150 uses an isolating PTFE bellows to separate the solenoid operating mechanism from the process medium.
The range covers DN10, DN15 and DN20 with flow rates up to 53 L/min and operating pressures up to 2 Bar, depending upon orifice size.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 Normally Closed
Operation: Direct Acting
Design: Seat Valve with PTFE Bellows
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
The direct acting design allows operation from zero differential pressure, making the Type 150 suitable for gravity-fed, low-pressure and other chemical process systems where pilot-operated valves may not function reliably.
Isolating PTFE Bellows Design
The PTFE bellows is one of the principal advantages of the RSG 150 for corrosive chemical service.
The bellows separates the process medium from the solenoid operating mechanism, reducing exposure of conventional moving solenoid components to aggressive chemicals.
This design provides:
✓ Process Media Isolation
✓ Excellent Chemical Resistance
✓ No Dynamic Stem Seal
✓ Zero Differential Operation
✓ Reduced Solenoid Contamination
✓ Direct Acting Control
PVC, Polypropylene or PTFE Body
Three chemically resistant body materials are available.
PVC
A practical and economical option for many acids, alkalis, water-treatment chemicals and dosing applications.
Polypropylene (PP)
Provides good resistance to a broad range of chemical solutions and is widely used in chemical handling and process equipment.
PTFE
Provides exceptionally broad chemical resistance for demanding applications involving aggressive acids, alkalis and other corrosive process fluids.
Body Options:
✓ PVC
✓ Polypropylene PP
✓ PTFE
Ports & Connections
Connections depend upon the selected body material and nominal valve size.
PVC:
✓ 16mm Cement Socket – DN10
✓ 20mm Cement Socket – DN15
✓ 25mm Cement Socket – DN20
Polypropylene:
✓ 16mm Welding Socket – DN10
✓ 20mm Welding Socket – DN15
✓ 25mm Welding Socket – DN20
PTFE:
✓ G3/8 BSP – DN10
✓ G1/2 BSP – DN15
Pressure, Orifice & Flow
The Type 150 is available in three nominal sizes:
DN10 – 10mm Orifice – 0 to 2 Bar
Water Flow: 20.7 L/min
DN15 – 15mm Orifice – 0 to 1 Bar
Water Flow: 29.7 L/min
DN20 – 20mm Orifice – 0 to 0.5 Bar
Water Flow: 53.0 L/min
The large 10–20mm flow paths make the Type 150 particularly useful where greater chemical flow capacity is required than is available from smaller plastic direct acting valves.
Acid & Alkali Service
The RSG 150 is intended for corrosive liquids compatible with the selected body, seal and PTFE bellows materials.
Typical applications can include:
✓ Acids
✓ Alkalis
✓ Chemical Solutions
✓ Water Treatment Chemicals
✓ Dosing Chemicals
✓ Cleaning Chemicals
✓ Corrosive Process Liquids
✓ Laboratory Chemicals
✓ Compatible Industrial Chemicals
✓ Chemical Transfer Systems
Chemical suitability should always be confirmed against the exact chemical, concentration, operating temperature and all wetted materials.
Seal Options
Available sealing materials include:
✓ EPDM
✓ FKM / Viton
✓ PTFE
EPDM can provide good compatibility with many water-based chemicals, acids and alkalis.
FKM provides resistance to many oils, hydrocarbons and industrial chemicals.
PTFE offers exceptionally broad chemical resistance and can be selected where elastomer compatibility presents a limitation.
The exact sealing configuration should always be selected according to the process medium rather than chemical category alone.
Temperature
Operating Temperature: +5°C to +50°C
Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +50°C
Permissible working pressure can depend upon valve body material, process temperature and selected seal material.
For thermoplastic valves in particular, the pressure/temperature relationship should be considered when selecting a valve for elevated-temperature chemical service.
Solenoid Coil & Electrical Specification
The Type 150 uses a continuous-duty industrial solenoid operator with a DIN Form A electrical connection.
Electrical Connection: DIN EN 175301-803 Form A
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Protection: IP65 with connector fitted
Voltage Tolerance: ±10%
Mounting: Solenoid Preferably Upright
Standard Voltages:
✓ 24V DC
✓ 230V AC 50Hz
Special voltages are available upon request.
The manufacturer's standard configuration is rated at 7.5W for 24V DC and 8.5W for 230V 50Hz.
ATEX Hazardous Area Option
An explosion-protected solenoid operator is available for hazardous-area installations.
Available protection includes:
Ex mb IIC T4 Gb
Ex mb tb IIIC T130°C Db
The manufacturer's standard Type 150 ATEX configuration is identified as:
II 2G Ex m II T4

Why Choose the RSG Type 150?
The RSG 150 provides a larger-flow plastic solenoid valve solution for applications where chemical resistance, zero-differential operation and isolation of the solenoid mechanism from the process fluid are important.
Its combination of PVC, polypropylene or PTFE construction with an isolating PTFE bellows makes the range particularly useful for aggressive acid, alkali and chemical applications.
DN10, DN15 and DN20 versions provide flow rates from 20.7 to 53 L/min, while normally closed, multiple seal materials, vacuum and clean-service configurations and an optional ATEX solenoid allow the valve to be adapted to demanding industrial chemical-control systems.
Available Versions
DN10 – 10mm Orifice – 0–2 Bar
DN15 – 15mm Orifice – 0–1 Bar
DN20 – 20mm Orifice – 0–0.5 Bar
Body Options:
✓ PVC
✓ Polypropylene PP
✓ PTFE
