Aggressive Media Solenoid Valve PTFE, PVC or PP – 160A15
The 160A15 is a chemically resistant 2/2 way normally closed solenoid valve designed for acids, alkalis and aggressive industrial fluids. It is available with PVC, polypropylene (PP) or PTFE valve bodies, allowing the valve construction to be selected according to the chemical media and pipe connection required.
A key feature of the Type 160 is its PTFE bellows isolated dry-armature design. The stainless steel solenoid tube and internal components are separated from the process media by the PTFE bellows, providing increased protection when controlling corrosive fluids.
The 160A15 uses a 15mm orifice and pressure-assisted diaphragm design, operating from 0.3 to 6 Bar differential pressure.

Chemical compatibility should be checked against the selected PVC, PP or PTFE body together with the selected EPDM or FKM seal material. This is particularly important because the chemical resistance and temperature capability will vary substantially between the three body materials.

The allowable media temperature depends upon the selected body and elastomer combination and should be taken from the manufacturer's pressure/temperature and elastomer charts rather than applying one blanket temperature rating to all versions.

Importantly, the manufacturer states that operating pressure is reduced by approximately 20% with the Ex specification, so this should be allowed for when selecting an ATEX-equipped valve.

Why Choose the 160A15?
The 160A15 provides considerably more configuration flexibility than a conventional plastic solenoid valve. The same valve platform can be supplied with PVC, PP or PTFE bodies, allowing the material and connection type to be matched more closely to the chemical application.
More importantly, the PTFE bellows isolates the solenoid armature from the process media. Combined with EPDM or FKM seal options, a 15mm flow path and 0.3–6 Bar pressure range, this makes the 160A15 particularly useful for aggressive-media applications where chemical compatibility is more important than simply specifying a metal-bodied valve.
