3/8" Normally Open Brass Solenoid Valve – SHAKO PU220AN-03
The SHAKO PU220AN-03 is a high-flow 3/8" 2/2 way normally open zero-rated assisted-lift brass solenoid valve designed for control of compressed air, water, light oils and compatible gases and process fluids.
The valve remains open when electrically de-energised, closes when power is applied and automatically reopens when electrical power is removed, making it particularly suitable for fail-open fluid control applications.
Combining an assisted-lift diaphragm with a large 13mm orifice, the PU220AN-03 provides high flow capacity while retaining operation from zero positive pressure.
Manufactured from forged brass with stainless steel internal components, the PU220AN-03 is supplied with NBR seals as standard, with FKM (Viton), EPDM or HNBR alternatives available. Media temperatures from -40°C up to +180°C can be accommodated according to the selected seal material and suitable solenoid operator.

The PU220AN-03 remains open in its normal de-energised state, allowing media to flow through the valve. Applying electrical power closes the valve, and removing power automatically returns it to the open position.
The assisted-lift design combines mechanical operation with diaphragm assistance, allowing operation from zero positive pressure while providing substantially greater flow capacity than a conventional compact direct acting solenoid valve.
This normally open operating principle makes the PU220AN-03 particularly useful where flow must be maintained during loss of electrical power.

High Flow Normally Open Design
The SHAKO PU220AN-03 combines high-flow assisted-lift diaphragm construction with normally open fail-open operation.
The valve remains open while electrically de-energised, closes when the solenoid is energised and automatically reopens when power is removed. This makes it particularly useful where maintaining flow during an electrical power failure is the required operating condition.
Its large 13mm orifice and 76mm² effective area provide high flow capacity from a compact 3/8" valve, while the zero-rated assisted-lift construction permits operation without the minimum differential pressure normally required by conventional pilot-operated diaphragm valves.
The forged brass body and stainless steel internal components provide robust industrial construction, while NBR seals are supplied as standard. Optional FKM, EPDM and HNBR seals allow the valve to be configured for different compatible media and temperatures.
