The Shako PU220 series 2 way Brass solenoid valve is an assisted lift electrically actuated valve for the ON/OFF control of fluids and gaseous media that are compatible with the materials of construction. Sometimes referred to as a direct acting, hung diaphragm, kick pilot or zero-rated valve, the PU220 valve is designed to physically lift the diaphragm and utilise any pressure differential between inlet and outlet to assist the opening or closing of the valve.
The PU220A is a 2/2-way (2 port / 2 positions) normally closed solenoid valve designed to stay closed until electrical power is applied.
When power is applied the coil is magnetised which in turn lifts the armature and diaphragm assembly whilst revealing a small pilot hole for pressure assistance.
The pilot works by allowing pressure above the diaphragm to vent out downstream so that the pressure difference combined force of the spring lift fully lift the diaphragm into the open position allowing full flow through the valve.
When the power is removed, the armature and diaphragm drop back down sealing the pilot hole, pressure increases above the diaphragm and the valve fully closes again within 20 to 50 milliseconds.
The NOPU220) (or PU220AN) is a (2 port / 2 positions) normally open solenoid valve designed to stay open until electrical power is applied.
When power is applied the armature lowers the diaphragm to seal, covering the internal pilot causing any inlet pressure to further assist the diaphragm into the closed position and the valve is then fully closed.
Pressure:
Pressure range is from vacuum to 8.5 or 12 Bar according to coil power level. (Normally closed only)
Diaphragm materials:
NBR rubber is standard, with options for Viton, EPDM or HNBR.

Materials of construction: Body Forged Brass SS41, Tube and internal parts Stainless Steel.
Ambient temperature range: -20C to +60C (according to solenoid coil)
Media temperature range: -40C to +160C (according to seal material)
Compatible media: Is based according to the materials of construction and diaphragm chosen, typically the PU220 valve is referred to as a General Purpose Solenoid valve, in that it is typically used for Vacuum, Suction, Compressed Air, Inert Gases, non-aggressive or corrosive liquids such as water, glycol, diesel and other light oils under 50 Centistokes viscosity.
