Description
CNX50S 50Nm Smart Failsafe Electric Valve Actuator
The Connexion CNX50S Smart Series is a powerful 50Nm quarter-turn electric actuator designed for automated ball valves, butterfly valves and other compatible ISO 5211 quarter-turn valves.
Featuring approximately 12-second 90° operation, the CNX50S combines standard open/close valve control with power-failure failsafe operation, open and closed position feedback, OLED status display, manual override and an internal anti-condensation heater.
Available in either 24VAC/DC or wide-range 95–265VAC, making the actuator suitable for industrial automation, water control, building services and remote valve isolation systems.
Smart Failsafe Operation
The CNX50S incorporates an internal energy-storage system that allows the actuator to drive the connected valve to its predetermined failsafe position following loss of electrical power.
This provides automatic valve operation without requiring a separate external battery backup system.
Failsafe Open configuration is available for applications where the valve must automatically open following loss of electrical power.
After a failsafe operation, approximately 1.5–2 minutes of restored power is required to recharge the internal capacitors before another failsafe operation is available.
Electrical Options
CNX50S-24V-OC-FAILSAFE
Voltage: 24VAC/DC
Function: Open/Close + Failsafe
Torque: 50Nm

Open & Closed Position Feedback
Independent volt-free feedback switches provide confirmation when the actuator reaches the fully open or fully closed position.
This allows valve status to be monitored remotely by:
✓ Building management systems
✓ PLC control systems
✓ Control panels
✓ Pump control systems
✓ Process automation equipment
The actuator provides separate open and closed feedback connections within its control wiring.
Anti-Condensation Heater
An integrated anti-condensation heater helps prevent moisture forming inside the actuator enclosure as environmental temperatures change.
This is particularly useful for installations in plant rooms, water treatment facilities and industrial environments subject to changing temperature or humidity.
Manual Override
A manual override allows the connected valve to be repositioned manually when electrical power is unavailable.
This provides a useful commissioning, maintenance and emergency operating facility.
ISO 5211 Direct Mount
The CNX50S is designed for direct mounting onto compatible ISO 5211 quarter-turn valves.
Mounting interface: F07
Drive: 14mm female
Rotation: 90°
It is particularly suitable for larger ball valves and butterfly valves requiring a substantial operating torque reserve.
Suitable Valve Types
✓ Brass ball valves
✓ Stainless steel ball valves
✓ WRAS ball valves
✓ Butterfly valves
✓ 2-way isolation valves
✓ 3-way ball valves
✓ ISO 5211 quarter-turn valves
For reliable operation, the actuator should always be selected with an appropriate torque safety factor above the valve's maximum operating torque.
Typical Applications
✓ Automatic water isolation
✓ Building management systems
✓ Process control systems
✓ Pump and tank control
✓ Water treatment equipment
✓ Industrial automation
✓ Remote valve operation
✓ Power failure safety systems
✓ OEM machinery
✓ Plant room automation
Important Failsafe Information
The failsafe function depends upon stored electrical energy within the actuator.
Following a power-failure operation, allow approximately 1.5–2 minutes after the electrical supply is restored for the energy-storage capacitors to recharge fully before relying upon another failsafe cycle.
