Description

3/4" PVC Solenoid Valve for Chemical Dosing – UDC20

The UDC20 is a 3/4" 2/2 way normally closed chemical-resistant solenoid valve designed for controlling strong acids, alkalis and corrosive process fluids compatible with PVC and PTFE.

Featuring a corrosion-resistant PVC valve body, PTFE sealing system and isolated dry-armature construction, the UDC20 helps protect the solenoid mechanism from aggressive process media. The manufacturer specifies the PVC UDC range for strong acid and strong alkali service, with PVC body corrosion resistance stated as pH 3–11.

The zero-pressure assisted-lift design operates from 0 Bar without requiring a minimum pressure differential. The larger UDC20 incorporates a 10mm orifice providing 58.3 L/min water flow at 1 Bar pressure drop, with an operating pressure range of 0 to 0.5 Bar.

Valve Function & Operation

Function: 2/2 way normally closed
Operation: Assisted lift
Design: Isolated dry armature
Normal Position: Closed when de-energised
Energised Position: Open
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
The UDC family is specified as a normally closed, dry-armature assisted-lift design. This allows the valve to operate from zero differential pressure while isolating the solenoid armature mechanism from the process media.

Ports & Connections

Port Size: 3/4" BSP
Optional Thread: NPT
The larger 3/4" connection and 10mm internal orifice provide substantially greater flow capacity than the 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" UDC models.

Pressure & Performance

Operating Pressure: 0 to 0.5 Bar
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
Orifice: 10mm
Water Flow: 58.3 L/min at 1 Bar pressure drop
Maximum Media Viscosity: 20 cSt
Vacuum: Not suitable

Construction & Materials

Body: PVC
Seals: PTFE
Diaphragm: NBR with PTFE coating
Solenoid Tube: Stainless steel
Armature: 430F stainless steel
Shading Ring: Copper
Coil Housing: Resin or metal
The manufacturer specifies approximately pH 3–11 corrosion resistance for the PVC-bodied UDC range. PTFE-bodied UDC-TF versions are specified for approximately pH 0–14 where greater chemical resistance is required.

Chemical & Media Compatibility

Suitable for compatible:
✓ Strong acids
✓ Strong alkalis
✓ Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
✓ Sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄)
✓ Chemical dosing fluids
✓ Water-treatment chemicals
✓ Corrosive process liquids
✓ Compatible gases
Media must be chemically compatible with the PVC body, PTFE sealing components and other wetted materials at the actual concentration and operating temperature.
For particularly aggressive or highly concentrated chemicals outside the useful resistance range of PVC, consider the PTFE-bodied UDC20TF.

Temperature

Media Temperature: -5°C to +80°C
Ambient Temperature: -10°C to +40°C
Maximum Media Viscosity: 20 cSt

Coil & Electrical

Coil Type: XL
Coil Power: 28 Watt
Insulation: Class F 155°C
Duty Rating: 80%
Protection: IP54
Electrical Connection: 30cm flying leads
AC Maximum ON Time: 2 hours
AC Minimum Cooling Time: 30 minutes
DC Maximum ON Time: 30 minutes
DC Minimum Cooling Time: 7.5 minutes
The manufacturer's electrical specification confirms 80% duty, with a maximum 2-hour ON period for AC and 30-minute ON period for DC before the specified cooling interval.

Voltage Options

12V DC
24V DC
24V AC
110V AC
230V AC
AC versions are available for 50 or 60Hz operation.

Typical Applications

✓ Chemical dosing systems
✓ Acid dosing equipment
✓ Alkali dosing equipment
✓ Water treatment systems
✓ Chemical transfer systems
✓ Industrial process equipment
✓ Corrosive fluid control
✓ OEM chemical equipment

Why Choose the UDC20?

The UDC20 combines a corrosion-resistant PVC body and PTFE sealing system with zero-pressure operation and a substantially larger flow capacity than the smaller UDC models.
Its 10mm orifice provides 58.3 L/min water flow at 1 Bar pressure drop, making it particularly useful where higher chemical flow is required but the system operates at very low pressure.
For more aggressive chemicals requiring greater resistance than PVC can provide, the equivalent PTFE-bodied UDC20TF offers increased chemical compatibility.
