Description
1/4" PVC, PVDF or PTFE Solenoid Valve – RSG 111
The RSG Type 111 is a 2/2 way normally closed plastic solenoid valve designed for controlling acids, alkalis and other aggressive liquids where conventional metallic valve bodies may not provide suitable chemical resistance.
Available in PVC, PVDF or PTFE, the Type 111 is a direct acting valve incorporating a fluid-damped isolating diaphragm between the process medium and solenoid operating mechanism. This provides reliable zero-differential-pressure operation while helping protect the solenoid components from aggressive process fluids. The manufacturer specifies
DN2–DN6, PVC/PTFE/PVDF construction and EPDM or FKM seals.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 Way Normally Closed
Operation: Direct Acting
Design: Isolating Diaphragm
Damping: Fluid-Damped
Minimum Differential Pressure: 0 Bar
Unlike the RSG 148 PTFE-bellows design, the 111 Series uses an isolating diaphragm. This is an important distinction between the two plastic valve ranges.
PVC, PVDF or PTFE Construction
The Type 111 is available in three chemically resistant body materials:
PVC
A practical choice for many acids, alkalis, water-treatment chemicals and dosing applications.
PVDF
Provides excellent chemical resistance together with good mechanical and temperature characteristics for demanding chemical-processing applications.
PTFE
Provides exceptionally broad chemical resistance and is suited to many highly aggressive process fluids.
Body Options:
✓ PVC
✓ PVDF
✓ PTFE
Seal Options:
✓ EPDM
✓ FKM
Ports & Connections
Connections are matched to the selected body material.
PVC:
✓ 16mm Cementing Spigots
PVDF:
✓ 16mm Welding Spigots
PTFE:
✓ G1/4 BSP Thread
This gives each material an appropriate connection system for integration into chemical pipework and process equipment.
Pressure, Orifice & Flow
Three orifice sizes are available:
DN2 – 0 to 6 Bar – 2.1 L/min
DN4 – 0 to 4 Bar – 6.0 L/min
DN6 – 0 to 2 Bar – 9.5 L/min
The larger orifices provide increased flow capacity with a corresponding reduction in maximum operating pressure.
The Type 111 is direct acting, so all versions operate from 0 Bar without requiring a minimum differential pressure.
Isolating Diaphragm Design
The RSG 111 uses a fluid-damped isolating diaphragm to separate the process fluid from the solenoid operating mechanism.
This provides several advantages for chemical fluid control:
✓ Process Media Isolation
✓ Direct Acting Operation
✓ Zero Differential Operation
✓ Reduced Solenoid Contamination
✓ Chemically Resistant Construction
✓ Fluid-Damped Operation
The design is particularly useful where corrosive liquids need to be controlled without exposing conventional metallic valve internals directly to the process medium.
Acid & Alkali Service
The RSG 111 is designed for aggressive liquids compatible with the selected body and sealing materials.
Typical applications can include:
✓ Acids
✓ Alkalis
✓ Chemical Solutions
✓ Water Treatment Chemicals
✓ Dosing Chemicals
✓ Cleaning Chemicals
✓ Laboratory Fluids
✓ Corrosive Process Liquids
✓ Compatible Industrial Chemicals
Chemical compatibility should always be checked using the exact chemical, concentration, temperature and selected valve materials before ordering.
Seal Selection
Two primary elastomer options are available.
EPDM
Suitable for many water-based chemicals, acids and alkalis where EPDM is chemically compatible.
FKM
Provides resistance to many oils, hydrocarbons and industrial chemicals.
Neither material should be considered universally compatible with acids or alkalis, so seal selection should be based upon the specific process medium.
Temperature
Operating Temperature: +5°C to +50°C
Actual permissible operating conditions depend upon the body material, seal material, process medium, pressure and temperature combination.
This is particularly important with thermoplastic valve bodies, where allowable working pressure can reduce as temperature increases.
Solenoid Coil & Electrical Specification
Connexion supplies the RSG 111 with a Nass Magnet Class H solenoid operator for reliable continuous industrial operation.
Coil Power: 15 Watt
Insulation: Class H
Duty Cycle: 100% ED

✓ 48V AC
✓ 110V AC
✓ 230V AC
✓ 380V AC 50/60Hz
Special voltages can also be supplied according to application requirements.
ATEX Hazardous Area Option
An explosion-protected solenoid operator is available for hazardous-area installations.
Available protection includes:
Ex mb IIC T4 Gb
Ex mb tb IIIC T130°C Db
The ATEX configuration allows the Type 111 to be used in appropriate gas and dust hazardous areas subject to the complete installation and operating conditions.
Maximum operating pressure is reduced by approximately 20% when the ATEX solenoid configuration is fitted.
Oil & Grease-Free Option
An oil and grease-free configuration is available for specialist chemical and clean-process applications.
This can be particularly useful in laboratory, analytical, dosing and process systems where contamination from manufacturing lubricants needs to be minimised.

Why Choose the RSG Type 111?
The RSG 111 combines direct acting zero-differential operation with PVC, PVDF or PTFE construction and a fluid-damped isolating diaphragm, making it particularly suitable for small-flow aggressive chemical applications.
Three body materials allow the valve to be selected around the chemical process, while DN2, DN4 and DN6 orifices provide flow rates from 2.1 to 9.5 L/min at operating pressures up to 6 Bar.
With EPDM or FKM seals, multiple connection styles, wide AC/DC voltage availability and an optional ATEX solenoid operator, the Type 111 provides a flexible solution for chemical dosing and corrosive-fluid control.
