Description
1" Pilot Pressure Reducing Valve 0–200 Bar – RSG 786-P
The RSG Type 786-P is an externally controlled pressure reducing valve designed for precise, stepless downstream pressure regulation in high-pressure liquid systems.
It combines manual stepless pressure adjustment with an electrically operated pilot valve for the closing function. The valve is normally closed (NC), allowing the regulated fluid supply to be shut off when the pilot valve is de-energised. RSG specifically defines the 786-P as “manual stepless pressure reducing with pilot valve for closing function.”
This combination makes the 786-P particularly useful where both adjustable downstream pressure regulation and electrically controlled shut-off are required.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: Pressure Reducing Valve
Valve Function: Normally Closed
Operation: Externally Controlled
Pressure Adjustment: Manual Stepless
Closing Control: Electrical Pilot Valve
Nominal Diameter: DN12
Maximum Pressure: 200 Bar
The valve regulates the pressure supplied to downstream equipment while the integrated pilot valve provides the electrical closing function.
Manual Stepless Pressure Regulation
The required downstream pressure is manually adjustable, allowing the 786-P to maintain a selected reduced outlet pressure without requiring an electronic 0–10V proportional signal.
This gives the 786-P a useful combination:
✓ Manual Pressure Adjustment
✓ Pneumatic Pressure Control
✓ Electrical Closing Function
✓ Normally Closed Operation
The 786-P therefore sits between a purely manually controlled pressure reducer and a fully electronically proportional pressure regulator.
Pressure & Control Range
Maximum Pressure: 200 Bar
Two actuator configurations are available:
AG1 – Single Piston
Control Range: 0–100 Bar
AG2 – Double Piston
Control Range: 0–200 Bar
Pressure Control Characteristics
The control-pressure graphs on page 3 show the relationship between pneumatic control pressure and regulated media pressure.
AG1 covers media pressure up to 100 Bar, while AG2 extends the range to 200 Bar. The graphs show approximately 6 Bar control pressure corresponding to the upper end of each respective media-pressure range.
The specified maximum control-air pressure is 8 Bar.
Ports & Flow
Connection: G1 BSP
Nominal Diameter: DN12
Flow Capacity: 3.75 m³/h
The DN12 configuration and 3.75 m³/h flow capacity apply to both AG1 and AG2 versions.
AISI 303 Stainless Steel Construction
Body: AISI 303 Stainless Steel
Seal: FKM
Connection: G1 BSP
Nominal Diameter: DN12
The manufacturer specifies material 1.4305 / AISI 303 with FKM sealing.
Media compatibility should be confirmed against AISI 303 stainless steel and FKM for the actual process liquid.
Liquid Media & Filtration
Media: Compatible Liquids
Maximum Contamination: 50 Microns
Control Air: Maximum 8 Bar
Control Air Filtration: 40 Microns
The process-liquid contamination limit is 50µ, while the pneumatic control air requires filtration to 40µ.
Temperature
Media Temperature: 0°C to +60°C
Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +50°C
These limits apply to the standard AISI 303 and FKM configuration.
Electrical Pilot Valve
The 786-P incorporates an electrically operated pilot valve specifically for the closing function.
Standard Voltages:
✓ 24V DC
✓ 230V AC 50Hz
✓ Special Voltages On Request
Voltage Tolerance: ±10%
24V DC Power: 6 Watts
230V AC Power: 9.2VA
Duty Cycle: 100% ED
Electrical Connection: Industrial Form B
Protection: IP65 with Plug Fitted
AC operation incorporates an integrated rectifier.
Normally Closed Shut-Off
An important difference between the 786-P and a conventional manually adjusted pressure regulator is its normally closed electrical shut-off capability.
RSG identifies the switching function as:
NC – Normally Closed
and the P control designation as:
Pilot Valve for Closing Function.
This allows pressure regulation and electrical shut-off to be combined within one valve assembly.
786 Series Control Options
The 786 family provides different methods of controlling the same basic high-pressure reducing function:
786-H – Manual stepless pressure control
786-P – Manual pressure control + electrical pilot shut-off
786-E – Electronic proportional 0–10V pressure control
The 786-P is therefore particularly useful where the pressure setting can remain manually adjusted but the machine or process requires an electrical ON/OFF closing function.
Mounting Position
RSG recommends:
Manometer preferably upright
This is the preferred installation orientation shown in the manufacturer's specification.

Why Choose the RSG 786-P?
The RSG 786-P combines manual stepless pressure reduction with electrically controlled shut-off, providing two functions within one high-pressure valve assembly.
Its AG1 and AG2 actuator options provide downstream control ranges of 0–100 Bar or 0–200 Bar, while the electrical pilot allows the normally closed valve to be integrated into automated machinery and process control systems.
With DN12 flow capacity of 3.75 m³/h, G1 BSP connections, AISI 303 stainless steel construction, FKM seals, 24V DC or 230V AC operation and IP65 protection, the 786-P provides a specialist solution for high-pressure liquid regulation requiring an electrical closing function.
