Description
15mm WRAS Latching Solenoid Valve 0.35–10 Bar – ASCO X210
The ASCO X210 Series is a 15mm WRAS approved bi-stable latching solenoid valve designed for urinal flushing systems, automatic washroom controls and other water-saving applications where electrical power consumption needs to be kept to a minimum.
Unlike a conventional continuously energised solenoid valve, the latching design only requires electrical power when changing valve state. Once switched, the valve remains in position without continuous coil power, making it particularly suitable for battery-powered sanitary controls and intermittent water-management systems.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 Way Bi-Stable Latching
Operation: Pressure Assisted
Connection: 15mm Compression
Pressure Range: 0.35–10 Bar
Orifice: 12.7mm
The pressure-assisted design provides a substantially larger flow path than a small direct-acting latching valve, making the X210 particularly suitable for applications such as urinal flushing where a relatively high instantaneous water flow is required.
A minimum pressure differential of 0.35 Bar is required for reliable operation.
15mm Compression Connections
Connection Size: 15mm
Connection Type: Brass Compression Fittings
The 15mm compression connections allow straightforward installation into conventional UK water pipework and make the valve particularly convenient for sanitary and washroom installations.
Large 12.7mm Orifice
Orifice Diameter: 12.7mm
The large internal flow path is one of the important differences between this X210 pressure-assisted valve and smaller direct-acting latching valves.
This allows a much higher instantaneous water flow while retaining the energy-saving advantages of bi-stable operation.
WRAS Approved for Potable Water
The X210 uses WRAS approved EPDM sealing material for potable-water applications.
Body: Brass
Internals: Stainless Steel
Seals: WRAS Approved EPDM
Media: Water
This combination makes the valve suitable for potable-water and sanitary installations where WRAS approval is required.
Magnetic Latching Operation
The X210 uses a bi-stable magnetic latching solenoid operator.
Electrical power is required to change the valve from one stable state to the other, rather than continuously powering the coil throughout the period that the valve remains open or closed.
This makes the valve especially useful for equipment that may need to operate for extended periods from batteries or another limited power source.
Designed for Intermittent Water Control
The X210 is particularly suited to intermittent water-control applications.
Typical operation might involve a control system sending an electrical pulse to open the valve, allowing the required quantity of water to flow, followed by another pulse to return the valve to its closed state.
This operating principle is ideal for automatic flushing and other water-conservation systems.
Water & Temperature
Suitable Media: Water
Media Temperature: -20°C to +85°C
Ambient Temperature: -20°C to +75°C
The wide temperature range allows the valve to be incorporated into a broad range of indoor and equipment-based water-control systems.
6V DC Latching Coil
Coil Power: 6 Watts
Operating Voltage: 6V DC
Electrical Connection: DIN43650A
Protection: IP65
The low-voltage latching operator is particularly suitable for battery-powered controllers and other low-energy control systems.
Because the valve is bi-stable, the 6W rating applies during switching rather than representing continuous power consumption while the valve remains in its selected state.
Battery Powered Water Control
The latching mechanism can significantly reduce battery consumption compared with a conventional solenoid valve that requires its coil to remain continuously energised.
This makes the X210 particularly suitable for installations where mains electrical power is unavailable, inconvenient or undesirable.
Applications can include:
✓ Battery Powered Urinal Controls
✓ Automatic Flush Controllers
✓ Sensor Operated Water Systems
✓ Remote Water Controls
✓ Low Energy Sanitary Equipment
Water Saving Applications
The X210 can be integrated with timers, occupancy sensors and electronic washroom controllers to deliver water only when required.
This makes it particularly useful for reducing unnecessary water consumption in high-use commercial and public washrooms.
Direct Replacement Application
The X210 is offered as a direct replacement for:
ASCO SCXH210G202BW
This is useful when maintaining or upgrading existing sanitary equipment where the original valve is no longer readily available.
Typical Applications
✓ Urinal Flushing Systems
✓ Automatic Washroom Controls
✓ Commercial Washrooms
✓ Public Facilities
✓ Educational Establishments
✓ Water Saving Systems
✓ Battery Powered Water Controls
✓ Sensor Operated Sanitary Systems
✓ Low Power Water Management
✓ OEM Washroom Equipment
Why Choose the ASCO X210?
The ASCO X210 combines three particularly useful features for sanitary water-control applications: WRAS approved construction, a large 12.7mm flow orifice and bi-stable latching operation.
Its pressure-assisted design provides operation across 0.35–10 Bar, while the 15mm compression connections make installation straightforward in conventional UK water systems.
Most importantly, electrical power is only required when changing valve state, making the X210 an effective choice for battery-powered urinal flushing and water-saving systems where both water and electrical consumption need to be minimised.
