Description
1/2"-1" WRAS 3 Way Stainless Motorised Ball Valve – T & L Port
The ABV3STLP Series is a WRAS approved 3-way motorised stainless steel ball valve designed for automatic flow diversion, changeover and multi-directional fluid control.
Available in 1/2", 3/4" and 1" BSP, the valve combines a corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel 3-way ball valve with a compact IP67 electric actuator and is available with either T-port or L-port flow configurations.
A choice of actuator functions includes standard Power Open / Power Close, automatic Failsafe Return, and Power Open / Power Close with power-loss failsafe return, allowing the valve to be configured for both general automation and safety-related isolation or diversion duties.
Each valve is supplied fully assembled and function tested ready for installation.
WRAS Approved Stainless Steel Valve
The ABV3STLP uses a stainless steel valve approved for potable water applications under:
WRAS Approval: 251015016
The stainless steel construction also makes the valve suitable for a broad range of water, air and compatible process-fluid applications where corrosion resistance is required.
T Port & L Port Flow Control
Two internal ball configurations are available depending on the required pipework function.
T Port
The T-port ball provides multiple flow-path combinations for applications requiring diversion, selection or communication between different ports.
Four T-port operating patterns are available:
✓ D Pattern – Standard
✓ A Pattern
✓ B Pattern
✓ E Pattern
L Port
The L-port ball is primarily used for directional changeover, connecting the common port alternately to either of the other two ports.
The required flow configuration should be selected according to the pipework arrangement and desired valve positions.
Available Sizes
1/2" BSP – 12mm bore
3/4" BSP – 15mm bore
1" BSP – 18mm bore
BSP female connections are supplied as standard, with NPT threads available as an option.
Motor Actuator Control Options
The ABV3STLP can be supplied with several actuator functions depending on the control requirement.
Power Open / Power Close
Electrical power drives the valve positively between its operating positions. Ideal for standard PLC, BMS and automated process-control applications.
Failsafe Return
Electrical power drives the valve during normal operation. If power is removed or lost, stored electrical energy automatically returns the valve to its predetermined starting or safe position.
Power Open / Power Close + Failsafe
Provides powered control in both directions during normal operation together with automatic movement to a predetermined failsafe position following loss of electrical power.
Fast Acting
An optional 1–2 second operating version is available for compatible low-voltage configurations where rapid valve changeover is required.
Electric Actuator Specification
Operation: Power Open / Power Close or Failsafe Return
Output torque: 16–27Nm
Standard operating time: Approximately 10 seconds
Fast acting option: Approximately 1–2 seconds, low voltage only
Voltage options: 12VDC, 24VDC, 24VAC or 110–240VAC
Power consumption: Approximately 10.3W while operating
Protection: IP67
Duty: 100% continuous duty
Ambient temperature: -15°C to +60°C
Design cycle life: 70,000 open/close cycles
Mounting: ISO 5211 F03/F05
Manual override: Standard
Position indication: Visual
Position feedback: E2 volt-free open/closed switches
Power Failure Failsafe
Failsafe versions incorporate an internal reserve-energy system which stores sufficient electrical energy during normal powered operation to reposition the valve following loss of the incoming electrical supply.
This provides automatic power-loss operation without requiring an external backup battery or mechanical spring-return actuator.
Failsafe features include:
✓ Automatic operation on power loss
✓ Predetermined return position
✓ Internal reserve energy storage
✓ Less than 0.5W idle consumption
✓ Open/closed position feedback
✓ No external backup battery required
Important: Allow approximately 1 minute charging time for the reserve-power system before relying on the failsafe function.
Position Feedback
E2 volt-free open and closed position feedback switches provide remote confirmation of valve position.
These can be used with compatible:
✓ PLC systems
✓ Building Management Systems
✓ Control panels
✓ Process controllers
✓ Remote status indicators
This allows the control system to confirm the actual valve position rather than relying solely on the command signal.
Manual Override & Position Indication
A manual override is supplied as standard, allowing the valve to be repositioned manually during installation, commissioning, maintenance or loss of electrical supply.
An Allen key is provided for manual operation.
The actuator also incorporates a visual position indicator for immediate local confirmation of valve position.
