ATEX Ex ia intrinsically safe solenoid valves are designed for hazardous areas where explosive gases may be present continuously or frequently. Unlike flameproof (Ex d) valves, Ex ia valves limit electrical energy to prevent ignition, making them suitable for Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments. Intrinsic safety ensures that even under fault conditions, the electrical energy within the system is too low to ignite explosive atmospheres. These valves are typically used with safety barriers or intrinsically safe control systems.
